the deadline
this thread is for those who agree thompson wants to push favre out.
even though he didn't get help in the off season i think if we are racing towards the playoffs at the deadline thomspon should really make a deal for a RB. i don't see how he couldn't just face his fears and go for it all this year because once your in the playoffs anything can happen.
imo the dolphins could use rodgers or the bucs i think we would have to throw in a pick to get williams fromt he bucs, and brown would be evn tougher.
or im sure if the chargers are still struggling they would not be oppose to trading turner.
another option is the viqueens a trade within the division is unlikely, but they could really use a quarterback and they have 2 strong rb's.
if we are clear cut favorites for the playoffs i say we gotta make something happen.

I wouldn't deal Rodgers for any RB that may currently be on the market. I'm not even sure I'd deal a 2nd round pick.
Run blocking to me is the biggest reason our backs aren't getting yards.
However, in an interview yesterday, Favre said that once he went back and looked at the film, he saw that the Backs had a few nice runs and that holes were there. The issue was that coming into the game, the coaches felt that they wouldn't be able to run against the Bolts so they came up with the gameplan that you saw: spread them out, short passes, get the ball to the playmakers early so they may be able to make something happen.
I anticipate the running game to become a more integral part of the offense as the season wears on.

I hope you're right. My thinking has been, you gotta run the ball before you can get better at running the ball. Difficult for our run blocking to improve when we're only giving it 15 shots a game.
I guess my concern, although the holes were there in the last game, is whether they were there because the defense was spread out and keying on the pass. Either way, I think we'll continue to spread defenses out and provoke them to look pass. But the running game could prove vital in at least somewhat keeping defenses "honest" or exploiting them if they don't.

Yup. We aren't getting Cadillac or Brown. Morency is about at the same level as any back we could hope to acquire via a trade. Vernand is no slouch man. Just hope for his recovery.
I don't really know how TT is trying to "push Favre out" either. Drafting WRs on the 1st day of 2 consecutive drafts...

I would NOT trade Rodgers.
Do NOT think TT is trying to force Brett out.
I agree the run issue is primarily o-line. Tho backs do not impress so far.
IF Morency stays injured or does not produce any better than others by trade deadline than I would CONSIDER a trade for Turner if reasonable.
Very much DOUBT anything happens.

I agree that we should work hard to make a deal for an RB.
I would trade a first day pick to do so. A first rounder......It would have to be a very good back.
Willams or Turner are probably the best options....I would say that they could be had for a 3rd rounder.
We know what Turner can do, Williams, I am not so sure shape wise.
We have to do something at RB.
People keep talking about Morency, and the only reason he is still here is because we are so bad at RB.
The man ends up on the DL after cutting his nails to short. He hardly has a full week of contact practice under his belt...is his injury prone, a wimp, or just not tough enough for the NFL....
We need better options if we are going to keep winning. We can easily loose 3 games that we should have won to make us loose this momentum....raiders, KC, Lions.....those should have been wins but if we loose them our record now is meaningless....

What r u smoking? Chargers will NOT part with Turner for less than a 1st or two 2nds OR maybe a 2nd and 3rd.
Williams as in Ricky? He's a FA right? I'd consider him - maybe - but TT would have already signed him if we wanted him.
I'm good with seeing what Morency and RBs we have do up to bye week.

No, they're talking about TB's Cadillac.
Forget Ricky. As I've stated before TT and MM value character as a big factor when choosing the roster and Ricky has shown blatant disregard for his teammates and a lack of commitment. And you don't want to bring a media circus to a serene 3-0 team.

well you're wrong about Rickey...he is suspended fromt he league right now awaiting renstatement. Then his rights are still owned by the Dolphins.
Much like Hornung back in the 60's when he was suspended for gambling.

Heaven forbid we want to actually try to win in the playoffs.
We have the youngest team in the league...we are playing well beyond our means right now.
teams are going to start taking us seriously....teams before have won 5-6 to start the season and then lost 5-6 in a row because teams figured them out.
No secret we need quality RB's. We don't have one that would be a starter on any other team in the league.
We are in a good position to make the playoffs based on our sched.
I wouldn't be happy with just getting there. I owuld like to make some noise....
getting a RB like Turner would be a huge asset.
Is it likly? no. But should he try, yes.
I also don't think his value is as high since the team is losing. History says that SD when not winning gets cheap.... a first day pick that isn't a first rounder I think could get it done....
But we all know how much tt values his picks.

I'm sorry but I'm going to need some examples. I think 3-0 teams make the playoffs 78% of the time or something like that, so a 5-0 team falling off has to be EXTREMELY rare.

I wouldn't call 1-2 "losing". They beat a SB team, and lost to this year's prohibitive favorite on the road and a close game on the road. People are over-reacting when it comes to their start. They've just got a REALLY tough schedule.
You know SD wanted a 1st and a 3rd for Turner in the preseaon right? I can't imagine the price falling through the floor after Week 3. If TT truely covets Turner I think he'll just wait until the offseason when he becomes a FA.
