what did you guys think?

As receiver he seemed good.

I missed watching him as blocker? Was he destroyed there?

I don't think they kept him in when they ran the ball. That's at least on the downs I payed attention.

I thought he looked good. Not as explosive as Kellen Winslow or as natural a WR as Vernon Davis, but in a straight line he looked faster than Todd Heap or Heath Miller. I thought he looked a lot like Shockey.

Speaking of tight ends, here an article on their effectiveness in the best offenses in the NFL.

On that note, whereas TE talent was abysmal in the 2007 draft, 2008 could be among the best ever for the position.

SENIORS:
Kellen Davis
Fred Davis
Martin Rucker
John Carlson

Take your pick of which one should be the first off the board. All of the size and athleticism needed. Carlson is a traditional TE from a Pro Style system. I've seen a lot of people projecting him to go in the middle of the first round. Fred Davis was the #1 or #2 WR in the country coming out of HS but made the switch to TE at USC. Right now he's leading the team in yards, TDs and catches while averaging over 20 yards a catch. Kellen Davis has seemingly come out of no where but is looking like a likely first round pick. Martin Rucker was #1 on most boards coming into the season but he's having catches taken away from him by junior Chase Coffman.

Juniors:
Chase Coffman
Martellus Bennett
Travis Beckum

Coffman has the pedigree. His dad was an All-Pro at the position. He's a lock to go in the first round if he comes out. Bennett reminds a lot of people of Jaguars first round pick Marcedes Lewis, but he's bigger, more athletic and catches the ball better. He's got a ton of potential. We all know Travis Beckum. I love the hands but he needs to put on about 15 lbs before he could be considered a TE. A Marques Colston role at WR might be in his future.

The TE position is LOADED, maybe as much (if not more-so) than RB. Wouldn't you know it, those would be the two biggest positions of need for the Packers...

Travis Beckum is, IMO, a surefire wideout at the pro level. He's starting to lineup there now given our injuries. You hit the nail on the head mentioning Marques Colston.

Look at Dustin Keller to be a sleeper TE pick.
