He is really pissing me off. He takes horrible angles. He has amazing physical attributes but he doesn't have the intangilbles. Tackle the quarterback damnit!

rarely does a player peak his rookie year, but that is exactly what Collins did.

IF he doesn't get it together this year - he must be replaced next off season.

He has to be the disappointment of the season for the Packers. He was expected to really come into his own this year. I'm just happy that Bigby is playing better than everyone expected him to.

If we had a better option right now I'd try him at CB. But we don't.

He didn't play as bad as he did last week, however.

Why is it that a serviceable starter like Collins gets criticism for not doing enough, and yet a player like Hawk -who never shows up- gets no criticism whatsoever?
What is especially baffling about this phenomenon is that when what a player in the secondary does isn't noticeable, that can be a POSITIVE thing (because it might mean that that player is doing a good job in coverage and opposing quarterbacks are consistently choosing to throw away from that player), but when what a player in the linebacking corps does isn't noticeable, that is ALMOST ALWAYS a sign that the linebacker isn't fulfilling his responsibilities. If anyone on this defense isn't doing enough, it's A.J Hawk, and don't even try to tell me that his fumble recovery today is proof he is making an impact out there. He did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to force that fumble; he was late to the play and for that reason he was able to react to the ball when it popped right to him out of Portis' hands. Leave Collins alone, at least he plays through injuries (somewhat significant injuries, I might add).

These are young players--we have neither the ability, nor the desire, nor the replacements to give up on any of them before they hit 24-25 years old.

Hawk isn't making the eye-popping impact plays, but he isn't completely killing the team either by blowing numerous coverages, missing tackles and being out of position. As of right now Hawk is basically 'just-a-guy'.

Wait, so you're saying that you think Collins is "completely killing" the Packers right now? Interesting. Either you're exaggerating or I'm not paying good enough attention to the secondary when I watch the Packers play. Remember to take into account the fact that Collins (as most senior safety on the team) probably has to cover up some of the mistakes that Bigby is surely making out there as well. Bigby may be showing up more on film than Collins because he is a bigger hitter, but I can't believe that he has been making fewer coverage mistakes than Collins so far.

I didn't think Collins played bad today. I didn't think he played great either, but he wasn't a liability out there like he was last week.

Collins had a real brainfart on the TD to Clark last week,but he did cause an INT in that game and that bomb he gave up to Olson,Collins had great coverage,the pass simply was in the only spot it could have been to get completed.

Overall i don't think Collins has had to many blown plays this year,he's just not made many plays either.Kinda like Hawk,there have been games this year where both are so invisible,you almost forget they are playing at times.

Hawk flashed nice ability when on the blitz last year and he did it well in college,this year though,AJ hasn't got close to the QB when he's on a blitz.Running backs or tight ends are stuffing him almost every time,not what i expected.

Collins is playing like an average player. If you find a Safety that you love in the 1st or 2nd round, I'm OK with replacing him. It's not something that you have to go out and look for though. He's playing pretty well. Sometimes Safety's get beat.

Collins blew the straight forward tackle on a TD run by "a QB" for god sake.

As for the good coverage he had on Olsen, yes he was stride for stride but he didn't jump or put his arms up much to break up the pass. That's why it was a completion NOT b/c it was so well placed. It was a good pass but Harris or Woodson would have broken it up.
