OT: Tom Brady - Greatest NFL QB ever?

I realize the guy has to play a few more years and win another super bowl or two.....but I think he's on track for it. I used to think he was an over-rated pretty boy but each year he keeps bringing it and doesn't let up. I have to finally acknowledge the talent.

I can't stand the Patriots but watching him in the Cowboys game yesterday was a thing of beauty. The guy just sits back there and throws pin-point passes to whoever the open guy is.

Yes he has a great defense backing him, good O-line, weapons, etc.....but he also always seems to make the right decision.

If he wins another SuperBowl, I'm moving him ahead of Montana on my list.....

He's had arguably the top coach in NFL history, great players surrounding him on both sides of the ball, the hardest OL to get a rush on in th league, but yes, he's right up there, mainly because he's as clutch as they come with the game on the line. Rarely makes mistakes.

21 TD/2 INT so far this year, that is asinine.

4 to 5 years ago I used to argue with you on Favre >> Brady with Sapp.......unfortunately I can't anymore.

You look at Favre and Peyton Manning at work and both guys are frantic working at things, at times looking rattled and disorganized. Brady just drops back into the pocket with total calm and seems to see the entire field. And again his strength is he always is able to easily see all 3 to 5 options he's got and put a perfect pass on the best option.

I suppose you could say he's got plenty of time due to a great O-line....but there have been plenty of QB's that have had great O-lines and haven't done what Brady's done. I think he'll take over Manning's single season TD mark if he stays healthy.

The ease with which he makes it look is what impresses me most. I hate the Pats more than any organization in sports; but the way Brady can calmly sit in the pocket and unleash perfect passes all over the field is amazing. He was hitting WRs in stride all over the field, even on the bombs.

The above bolded is a ridiculous statement, the first Superbowl team the Pats had the Rams were light years more talented, yesterday Vrabel said there is not 10 players off the first Superbowl team who could make this Patriot team today and that no more then 20 off there previous Superbowl teams could make this team this year. Brady had horrible receivers last year, many who are not even around the league this year, and he came to less then a 1/2 of leading that pathetic corp back to the Superbowl..........barring an injury Brady might have the greatest season of all time this year, and they DON'T have much of a running game....by the time Brady is done he will pass Joe Montana....stats don't matter as much as jewelry.

I don't know...but I am the wrong person to ask....

To me, Montana isn't a top 5 QB.

I see Brady a lot like Montana....a systems QB. The right guy for the right system.

Put a QB who is very, very accurate, makes good decisions, and rarely makes mistakes around vetran, good players, with a very good O line...he can do very special things.

Put Brady on the Raiders, he doesn't have 21 TD's and 2 ints.

he doesn't have 3 rings.

I see him as Marc Bulger. Good QB. Can put up numbers.

I believe you put a QB like Marino, Favre, Unitas, etc, on the pats they are even a better team.

Don't get me wrong. Brady doesn't have to do much more to be a HOF QB, he is very good, and I would take him on my team.

I just don't feel he could do the same with a lesser team, in a lesser system.

Ridiculous. Moss/Stallworth/Welker at WR and Maroney/Morris at RB, with also probably the top OL in the league?

Granted, maybe he hasn't ALWAYS had the best talent (last year I agree with), but he does this season, and the OL has always been dominant. Brady never gets touched, EVER.

Montana is the best I've ever seen. Starr was Mr. Playoffs (highest playoff QB rating in history).

My favorite to watch was The Snake.

The Patriots have had a well oiled machine in regards to the whole organization,but even moreso than Belichick,Tom Brady is the guy driving the train.Put Trent Green or Bulger as their QB all these year,the Pats maybe have one ring.

And if you take Belichick out of the the equation and put in some othe random coach, the Pats probably have 0 rings. So IMO, the driver of that train is, unquestionably, Bill Belichick.

Don't get me wrong, I think Brady is an absolute stud. But of course he sits back calmly in the pocket. What's there to worry about? He has all day to throw. With the defenses that have been put around him, the coaching staff etc.

I'll take Manning over Brady. Nobody reads defenses and coverages and manages a game like Manning does. Now that he has his ring, I put him ahead of Brady.

Everyone likes to talk about the weapons Manning has in Harrison and Wayne. Realize Harrison didn't start blowing up until Manning's 2nd year. And Reggie Wayne, do we even know what kind of receiver he would be without Peyton Manning? Brandon Stokley for example, he's been pretty much useless in Denver. In his 2 healthy seasons of football in Indy, which was 31 games, Stokely caught 109 balls for 1,620 yards and 11 TD's. Manning has never had a defense near what Brady has had.

You guys are in awe of what Brady is doing with guys like Moss, Welker, and Stallworth. Give manning those 3. that would be even scarier IMO.

As long as Manning is in the league, I'm going to have a hard time calling Brady the best. Don't get me wrong, he's an outstanding QB, I just wouldn't put him above Peyton. Peyton has a better arm, and is much better on the deep accuracy. Brady's team is absolutely loaded this year, and Randy Moss can single-handedly make an offense unstoppable. That said, I won't be surprised if he throws 45+ TD's and wins MVP, because he is a very good QB.

Coaching is obviously important in the NFL,but the players go out there and win games.In that Pats first SB win,it was Brady marching his team down the field in a two minute drill to set up the winning FG, Belichick was standing there watching it happen.

Belichick is a great overall head coach and a brilliant defensive mind,but the Patriots offense also has been very good over all these years regardless who the offensive coordinator was.Brady has been the one constant.

Either way,we will never know if Brady would have a ring or rings if Belichick wasn't his coach.On the flip side,Belichick didn't accomplish anything as a head coach until Brady showed up.

I will say this though,if i'm starting a team and have the choice between a HOF QB or a HOF head coach,i'm taking the QB.

Best QB season ever... Peyton Manning(2004)

Best QB ever... without a doubt is Brett Favre.

Before this season Brady has NEVER had close to the talent around him that Payton Manning has had since day 1...Brady is a far better playoff QB then Manning...I have never been a stats guy I just believe in rings and Tom Brady has 3 rings with teams that were not exactly oozing with talent...........if I had 1 big game to win Brady would be my choice over any QB now and in the 2000's...............most of the great QB's do not get sacked alot...Brady, Manning, Favre, Elway, Montana, Aikman, Marino all remain upright for the most part....you won't find a great QB who is on his arse all the time

I find it hard to rate Brady as the greatest qb ever when I can't even really say if he is the greatest qb in the game today.

In my opinion the greatest qb ever would be far and away the best in his own league currently.

In my humble opinion...

1A Manning
1A Brady

And that is for current players, not even all-time.

5 TD's already on 18-21 passing for pretty boy Tom..and it's only the third quarter.........I think he'll have Manning's single season TD mark....

He's on pace for 4800+ yards and 60+ TDs.

If he does finish with 50+ TDs I'd call him the greatest ever.
