296 rushing yards and it was against the freakin' Chargers.

I'm already wondering what space eating DTs and run stuffing LBs and safeties we can add in the draft and through free agency next spring. Totally serious. Seeing this guy at least twice a year for the next ten is going to really **** suck.

Almost single handedly beat the Chargers.

If the Vikings if ever get a passing game..

They need WR's and a QB (among other things), otherwise they will be a spitting image of the great Barry Sanders/Detroit.

I would just play goal-line defense against them and man to man with no safety cover against receivers. Just play the safeties in the box and sag off the play until Peterson beats the D-line and lbs.

Lets hope he breaks his legs*

One difference being that Barry Sanders countered many of his amazing runs with losses because he juked a lot in the backfield. Great player, but not dominant in the way maybe an Eddie George was at one point. A consistent 4 yards continually moves the sticks. Peterson is probably closer to that Eddie George or Jim Brown type back. Not quite as powerful, but sleaker and with more speed. I think it was pretty unanimous that he was going to be an amazing back if he could stay healthy. In retrospect, he's the type of player that we should have moved a house and 3 kids for. Just think of Peterson and Moss alongside these current Packers somehow. Wowawewa.

As for the upcoming draft, I don't think we have to worry about the defensive line for a while. We already invested enough in Harrell. I know he's easy to forget with how much he's contributed, but..... A linebacker or safety to replace Poppinga or Bigby would be an option. I've been impressed by Adibi of Va Tech and Steltz of LSU. We also could address tight end with Martin Rucker. I'm not sure what kind of O-Line draft this will be.

Wow this guy sure is the man. I don't question his ability to do this week after week either. I just wish there was somehow the Packers could have gotten him that last draft. *sigh*

I think Adibi is an outstanding athlete but not much of a linebacker. I've watched him two consecutive weeks and he's invisible out there against the run.

Steltz I like a lot. He's tough as hell but I'm not sure what he'll be like in pass coverage.

Rucker I've soured on a bit. I don't think he's much of an athlete to be honest.

One guy I like more and more each time I see him play is Kellen Davis. He reminds me of Alge Crumpler.

I like Peterson. It's a shame to see him with the Vikings, but he's trying to do everything they can from landing a top spot to take a QB in the draft

The one knock on Adibi has been his size. But I think he would be a good fit for the Packers because our defensive line is often dominant, so they'd absorb some of the blocks he'd have to shed otherwise. Also, we could use a linebacker who is superior in coverage to Hawk and Barnett. We've had MAJOR issues with tight ends terrorizing us over the middle, ala Gates, Gonzalez, and Cooley. He'd be a more ideal matchup with his athleticism. Plus he has excellent leadership and instincts.

I'm really surprised you're questioning Rucker's athleticism. He seems freakishly agile for his size. I've seen him execute spin moves in traffic. 4.70 at 255 is nothing to sneeze at. Davis runs a 4.85 at the same size. He mauls defensive backs like a bear in the open field and is a plus blocker. Davis didn't impress me much when he played the Badgers. What little production he's had, he's benefitted from a system which carves out an immense amount of green. He didn't have ANY success until this season.

Steltz seems like he operates in open space pretty well. He can cover territory quickly due to anticipation and he has some bad intentions.

Rucker thought about entering the draft this last season. He decided not to after the NFL advisory committee told him he was a likely 5th round pick. I've watched Mizzu twice this season and when I watch him I see Zach Miller.

Ah yes the classic Barry had no help BS.

Its not like he had Brett Perriman, Herman Moore and Johnnie Morton.

Its not like its Barry sucked in the playoffs outdoors

In four career outdoor postseason games, Sanders averaged a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. He never scored a touchdown. And he never ran for more than 65 yards in a single game. With Sanders, the Lions went 0-4 in outdoor playoff games, losing by an average of 17 points.

Not that Barry wasnt great, but he was overrated.

I can tell you're looking for a Smith vs Sanders fight. But you're insane if you don't think Detroit did a lousy job of surrounding maybe the most gifted back in NFL history with decent players.

Alas, for the most part my point was missed. I was not comparing AD to Sanders. Just comparing how such a great talent is swallowed up when the overall team makeup underperforms.

It's great to have Peterson on my fantasy team, less so to have him on a division rival.

Who was the best QB Sanders ever played with? Sanders averaged 5 yards per carry for his career. I seem to recall the only other RB who can make the claim is Jim Brown.

Last years draft made me sick when i saw Peterson might slip to the Vikings.I remember watching it and just hoping so badly some team would take him or trade up for him when it was looking very possible he could get to the Vikes.

He runs like a stronger and faster version of Dickerson.You constantly see linebackers and DB's think they have an angle on Peterson and he kicks in a second gear and blows past them.

Peterson is a Moss like athlete that is so good, a defense can do a good job and just simple crazy skills turns what would be a two yard gain for an average back into a 70 yard run for him.Not gonna be fun dealing with him for the next 5-8 years if he stays reasonably healthy.
