Derek Anderson

Post#1 » by bigballajohn » Tue Nov 6, 2007 11:01 pm

He's in the last year of the contract. Assuming that Favre retires and the Browns let him go, would we be interested in making an offer to him and sees if he wants to play in Green Bay. I think this guy has great potential and the Browns have Brady Quinn, so they might decide to let Anderson go and give the reins to Quinn.

Does anyone think we have a shot at getting this guy?

One, he's a restricted free agent, so any team that wants him is giving up a first round pick, possibly a first and a third.

Second, we have this guy:

We have Rodgers who is every bit as talented if not more, waiting in the wings.....word I have been hearing out of Minny is that it may only take a 2nd round pick to get Donny McNabb, where it will take a 1st and a 3rd to get Anderson................one little side note, Paul Chryst, UW's O-coordinator, made Derek Anderson what he is today at OSU....wish UW could find a Derek Anderson.

Why the hell would the Browns even get rid of Anderson?

The guy has ideal size and is playing great for a young QB, Brady Quinn hasn't proven a thing yet. If i'm Cleveland and if Anderson keeps playing well, no way i let him go regardless if they can get a first and third.

They own the rights to Quinn for awhile, i'd keep Anderson and Quinn. If Anderson has another nice year next season, then at some point they could consider trading Quinn.

i wouldn't go after Anderson. I think he is a great QB, certainly has the potential to be top 5. Only 24 years old, putting up tremendous numbers, and hasn't even began to enter the peak of his career so he is only going to get better. i am a huge fan of Anderson but the price in money or draft picks to get him would certainly be a lot.

I say just go with Rodgers, he looks better every year and whenever we need him to take over i believe he will be ready and will be a solid starting QB,

If Brett retires you just go with Rodgers. You sign a veteran back up so if it doesn't work with Rodgers you have someone solid to replace him.

Signing Culpepper as a backup would be nice. Unfortunately, some team is probably going to be desperate enough to sign him as a starter.

I don't really want McNabb. I've seen enough Eagles games this year and I haven't been impressed with him at all. It may be because he's still not entirely recovered from his injury last year, but he can't make plays with his legs anymore. His ability to do that took defenses so off guard where he could do anything he wanted. Not only that, but it's only a matter of time before McNabb suffers another long injury. He holds onto the ball way too long.

I think the organization is confident in Rodgers, and that's perfectly fine by me.
