Armchair GM update

Just an update on players that everyone was pining for in the offseason. Not as many people on this board were TT bashers but you all know how much the general public was asking for us to try to improve by the dollar sign factor (Redskins, Vikings, etc.) I've probably been obnoxious to friends/family because I was right all along that TT was doing just fine and we now don't have to worry about our studs walking because of gigantic stupid signings.

Players everyone was asking for before the season and their stats through week 12:

Tight End
Daniel Graham 20 rec, 189 yds, 1 TD
5 years/$30 million(15 million guaranteed)

Who everyone wanted to draft: Greg Olsen In 8 games...28 rec, 298 yds, 2 TD (Had one called back today)
On a rookie 1st round contract probably larger than Lee's extension

What TT decided: Donald Lee 39 rec, 468 yds, 4 TD
Extended for 4 years/$12 million

Running Back
Travis Henry In 7 games...580 yds, 1 TD
5 years/$22.5 million(12 million guaranteed)
Won't be playing too much football in the future with impending suspension and current injuries

Ahman Green In 6 games...260 yds, 2 TD
4 years/$23 million(6.5 million guaranteed)
Injury riddled season and 30 years old

What TT: decided: Ryan Grant In 5 games as featured back... 470 yds, 2 TD, 100 rec yds
2007 Salary: An extra bag of peanuts on the flight to the game

Wide Receiver
Randy Moss Stats: ask NASA for calculations
Might have a pretty hefty contract coming up, though
No argument here, although many TT haters even did not want Moss

Who everyone wanted to draft for '06: Chad Jackson Stats: 8 successful trips of taking Bill Belichick's sweatshirts to the dry cleaner
Minimum wage(is it $6.20/hour now?)

Javon Walker In 3 games... 19 rec, 230 yds, 0 TD
2007 Salary: More than TT would have been stupid enough to pay at the time
Injury report: Missed 7 weeks and now listed as Questionable with an injury of karma

What TT decided: Greg Jennings 39 rec, 625 yds, 9 TD
Fairly cheap

What TT decided: James Jones 40 rec, 594 yds, 2 TD
Fairly cheap

What TT decided: Ruvell Martin In 10 games...12 rec, 174 yds, 3 TD
Fairly cheap

Honorable Mention:
FB - Justin Griffith FB stats don't mean much. Probably blocking well for whoever is in the Oakland backfield at the time(Fargas now). 100 Receiving yards
3 years/$3.8 million
Not a bad value but probably had no desire to come to GB. Korey Hall is just fine with me

LB - Lavar Arrington Location: In a hospital near you
7 years/$49 million with the Giants

S - Adam Archuleta No stats accumulated, he is rumored to be on the field for the Bears but he still has yet to be seen
6 years/$30 million when signed with the Redskins
Put him on because people wanted to trade for him

In conclusion, some of this is due to Favre...but thanks TT.

If Justin Griffith has had anything to do with the explosion of Fargas in Oakland, then he has done a hell of a job.

You're right, I'm assuming he has something to do with it. Griffith is definitely a great value for his price tag but I kept hearing that he didn't really want to be here with the situation we had.

Fargas and Grant are both under the radar caliber guys and I think that both of their successes are basically equal in magnitude. So Korey Hall can't be doing too bad of a job. In essence it's a wash and Griffith is a guy that we may very well have not had any chance of obtaining and is still more expensive than Hall. I'll take it.

Good post.

One thing though. Who asked for Archuleta? Talk about an overrated player.

Who the hell wanted Archuleta. They should have their head examined. After what he showed in Washington and now in Chicago he is the worst safety in the league. Mark Roman is even better than this guy. One guy I did want though was Chad Jackson. I was so upset when we took Jennings over him. Now I would take Jennings over almost any #2 WR in the league today

A fine post, cheers to you and TT! The only point I'd add is that TT bashers always chime in that TT is afraid to go after a big name, but last I checked Charles Woodson is a major contributor to the Pack's 10-1 record.

Yeah, sorry about the Archuleta part I guess. It was more from personal experience of people I talked toin person/read online that thought that the Bears got him on the cheap and that we had a huge hole at safety where Manuel was.

It's okay. Pretty sure my family and friends get a similar feeling whenever I talk about McCarthy because I was quite literally the only person I knew IRL that was fully in support of the hiring. I defended him to the death.

The jsonline board perhaps? Those idiots want TT to make a run at every FA regardless of if he is washed up or if he could even play in the first place. They all think they're junior GMs.
