Nick Collins Beware

Since Collins has been out, Aaron Rouse has done a great job in place of Collins. Hes done one thing that Collins hasnt done too, hang onto the ball. Does Rouse have a chance at replacing Collins as the starter?

This is kind of a moot point at this juncture since Rouse is questionable for this upcoming game and Collins is looking like he might be able to play.

Rouse has to be on the field. I think he offers a great deal in terms of leadership, bigplay ability and support in run coverage. Maybe he doesn't replace Collins right now but they must find a way to get him out there.

Its hard to say if Rouse could take Collins starting spot at this point since we've realy only seen Rouse start for a few games but in those few games Rouse has been solid and impressive.

Collins to me seems like a steady consistient player,not realy a guy who is going to make a ton of big plays but at the same he's not a guy whos going to hurt you.Collins is a good player.

Collins kinda reminds me of old Packers cornerback Tyrone Williams,Williams was the starting cornerback on the Packers from like 1995 till around 2002 I belive but you never realy heard his name mentioned during games because he never made a ton of big plays but yet he kept his starting job for 7 years because he was steady and consistient and rarely got burned.

Different positions but from the standpoint I mentioned above I think Collins and Tyrone Williams are similar.

Rouse on the other hand appears to have more ''big play'' ability than Collins though.

Im just glad we have a solid GM that can find mulitple quality players at almost every position.Just like Ron Wolf did,when Ron Wolf was GM and a starter got hurt you'd think oh no we are in trouble and almost everytime the back up would come in and get his chance and end up being just as good if not better than the original starter.

We are seeing a very similar thing going on now with the Packers under TT.

Even last week vs the Lions we saw it,Woodson goes out and Tramon Williams comes in looks solid and makes some plays.KGB goes out and Michael Montgomery comes in and makes some nice plays.

Not gonna lie (and most people already know it) - I thought Rouse was destined for LB in the NFL, where he originally started in college. Not that I didn't think he would turn into a good player, but I didn't think it'd be at safety. He's proven me wrong the past few weeks, and I couldn't be happier. He's been great "insurance" for Collins. I really want to see Rouse succeed, no matter where it is.

I recently remembered reading an article on Rouse a couple years ago. I decided to look it up just now and, by luck, had relatively no trouble digging it up. This was one of my favorites on him:

If he does not start at S he could replace Popp against teams with great TEs - since Popp sucks in coverage.

I initially believed he could be a good safety in the NFL until MiG convinced me his future was at LB

Maybe he doesn't exactly replace Pops but comes in for a sort of hybrid nickle/4-3. Long yardage situations on second down where the team could run or pass. Sort of a monster back.
