Green Bay - Former Packers kicker Dave Rayner, who lost a training camp battle to rookie Mason Crosby, was released Tuesday by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs replaced Rayner with 43-year-old John Carney.

Rayner made 15 of 22 field-goal attempts this season after joining the Chiefs for the season

Crosby was a a major brilliant coup by TT!

I missed that entirely. I never would have drafted a K - figured after last season, Raynor would be OK.

well done TT & MM.

You almost got to fail bad for Rayner.

One year he's the kickoff specialist for the Colts. The next he's the kicker for the Green Bay Packers with a nice future in front of him.

Then the draft's best kicker falls to the Pack in the 5th round and like that he's cut. Three months later he's done.

Ouch.

I don't feel bad for him. Talented kickers always have a job. If he's talented, he'll have a job.
