Aaron Fing Rodgers

I am not going to say alot about this but myself and DB in particular have been ripped repeatedly because we believe in Rodgers and I certainly feel a bit of vindication tonight as he played great against the best team in the NFC......having said all that, I believe if Gb is healthy they will exploit the Cowboys and make the Superbowl......there backs are aweful, if Favre and Mm would have stuck with the short stuff they would have walked....if I ever see Bush and Bigby again it will be to soon.

Most people didn't say Rodgers was a bust for sure. People rip on you because of your unwarranted willingness to declare Favre over the hill, not because you like Rodgers.

Thats what I thought too when I read the post.
Xtitian & DB have been fans of Rodgers but the problem some people have is they can't seem to praise Rodgers without bashing Favre in the next sentence.
I along with other people have been a Rodgers critic in the past but came away somewhat impressed after this past pre-season.Rodgers showed he made some nice strides after watching last pre-season.
As for Rodgers he looked realy solid tonight ecspecially when you consider Rodgers was thrown into such a big game.Rodgers moved the offense and kept us in it so big priops to Rodgers.
Rodgers is no Brett Favre and probably never will be but neither are 99% of the QB's in the league. With that said Rodgers is definatly giving us some hope he can be a solid starting QB for the Packers when Favre hangs it up.

Come on titan, don't act like you spotted some diamond in the rough here. There were a few here that wrongly bashed Rodgers, but more liked his future than not. Plus, you also said Favre was washed up.
After watching him this preseason, i saw the light go on for him, he finally looked poised and comfortable. My thought was, the best thing to happen to Rodgers was getting drafted by a team that didn't force him on the field before he was ready.
So many young QB's get forced on the field to soon because they get drafted by a team with no proven QB. Rodgers was able to sit back and fully learn the offense and through practice/film study the last couple years, understand how best to attack NFL defenses.
You saw it tonight, when he got under center, he wasn't confused by anything Dallas was doing. He's been around the wide receivers for a few years and knows their strengths. He wasn't a wild wide eyed rookie making silly mistakes.
I'm sure he'd have liked to play sooner, but not getting drafted by San Fran and thrown to the wolves right away was probably the best thing to happen to Rodgers.

I am glad Rodgers will have 4-5 years backing up Favre before taking over the job himself.
It usually takes 3-4 years for a QB to develop anyways...look at the mess SF is in with Alex Smith.

I think we learned last night that Favre's supporting cast on offense is pretty good.....and the gap between Rodgers and Favre may not be the chasm some have made it out to be.
Which is good news for Packer fans as the team is in good shape going forward.

Oh give me a break. First of all, it's 3/4 of one game. Yes he played very well and I'll give him credit, but this doesn't make you a prophet about anything.
The biggest argument over here has been Favre vs. Rodgers, who gives us the best chance to win, not that Rodgers sucks.
Favre still no question, none gives us the best chance at a SB this year, that's all that really matters at this point.

Talk about a reach. You get ZERO vindication.
I and most got on you and DB for saying Brett was washed up and you were WRONG! Had nuthin to do with Rodgers.
Though Brett looked bad this game. Unfortunately He's always had intermitant bad games.
ARod looked like crap 1st two preseasons as press also reported. This preseason he looked good and I and everyone acknowledged him. Even article in GBP-G today said that. I never NOT pulled for him - just knew he wasn't ready and that Brett was not washed up.
Having straightened that out -
Rodgers did look damn good and yes you can feel good bout that. I do.

Spot on. If anything we see that the Packers should be able to continue on with Brett retired. Even though that was a loss, finding out Brett is replacable is bigger than any outcome that game could have provided. The Packers have a great up and coming team and now it looks like they might have the long term quarterback answer to capitalize as they hit their stride and enter their primes.

I was so waiting for this thread and its going just as I expected. XTitan starts by stirring the pot and th87 is quick to respond so he can pimp for his idol and turn it into a Favre's still great thread. In general the give Rodgers a chance guys are feeling vindicated. The Rodgers bashers are either back-peddling or vanished into the wind...kind of like the TT and MM bashers. Time to pop me some popcorn, sit back and enjoy the show. While watching I'll still contemplate two of the universes great mysteries. Why are you considered evil if you were upset that Favre sucked for two seasons and why aren't there people who stand up and support both Favre and Rodgers...although my guess is that is about to change.

Jesus **** christ. Find me one single post where I ever said Brett was washed up.

First preseason.
Second he lead the league in QB rating. This last preseason he obviously looked outstanding as well.

Generalization, over simplification and only slightly correct as it applies to maybe the 2 people mentioned. But sit back and enjoy your halluciinations.

Does Rodgers have two years left on his contract after this season?
I really hope he can remain patient behind brett favre and not start stirring up trouble by trying to get traded or anything. So far he's been great in that respect.
I would guess Favre has another year or two left, and I really want him to hand the torch to A-Rod when he's done after all that the packers have invested in his development.

I said from the beginning of the year that Favre still gave the Packers the best chance to win now...I was ready to turn the page and go with Rodgers from the beginning of the year, I fully admit that, I also admit that Favre has played way beyond any sane persons dreams this year, with the exception of last night where he looked Favre circa 2005. My point was that Rodgers has been bashed by many people here and in cheeseland, Rodgers can play, I have the NFL ticket, watch tons of games, there are so many aweful QB's that play in this league....hell I would go so far ast to say the GB has the 2 best QB's in the North division............my post was not intended to bash Favre, he has had an MVP like season...but Rodgers is a player, you'd have to be blind not to see the skill and talent.
I also think PP made a great point....GB has alot of offensive weapons and still questionable line.

Now so people don't go all crazy and say I'm bashing TT - I do not bash him overall but I do criticize specific moves and issues. Same with Brett. I love him overall but I will call him **** when he's in one of his ocassional stupid modes.
So
Our O-line. first thing tt did was blow up our line. Wahle, Rivera, Flannigan. for better or worse.
Then he gets coach (that I generally like) that installs the ZBS (which I hate) and keeps our 2 Ts (which I love) that do not fit or excel in ZBS.
Colledge, Spitz, Costin = great picks or backups? or just still young?
Watching Dallas O-line made me recall how good our line was at power blocking pre TT. I have come to see I agree with TT more than not but I just don't get his work on our Oline. IF you are of the school that says build both lines first - You could easily say we needed an Olineman this past draft more than a DL.

Well first of all he didn't exactly have much of a choice with the tackles. Clifton signed a six year extension under Mike Sherman in February of '04. Tauscher signed his deal in 2002, a deal that ran through 2008. Neither have been extended.
So it's not as if their deals were expiring or have had enormous bonuses due that meant they needed to be cut.
As for the ZBS, I'm not sure it's the best to bash the running game now that Thompson found an ideal back for the system (one cut and get up the field). Since Wynn went down early against Denver, Ryan Grant's rushed 115 times for 561 yards. That's an average of 4.87 ypc.
Three of those games came against teams in the top 10 in rush defense. Two in the top 5.

If you were capable of any reading comprehension whatsoever, you'd see that I'm simply calling xTitan out for his inaccurate post. That's it. I'm on record saying that I like Rodgers.
However, you've gone out of your way to bash Favre (in the Elway debate). That tells me everything I need to know. I don't think xTitan, DB, PP, etc. are Favre-haters, but you've displayed an extreme bitter streak when it comes to all things Favre. Marginalizing his accomplishments and augmenting his flaws. In an extremely bitter tone. You know what that tells me? That you're subjective.
I, on the other hand, try to be objective as possible. I recognize that Favre played horribly last night, and it is of great concern if, during big games, he scraps the game plan and starts chucking. I'm on record for that too. So I try to be balanced.
Ergo, me > you. Have a nice day.

Should what he accomplished during his prime years outweigh his play the last two-three seasons? When he lead the league in interceptions with 29 in 2005, did you say, "Who cares? He was an MVP three years in a row".
Because that's what you sound like.

You are the least objective fan I ever read...EVER. When it comes to Favre I just give the facts...you call that bashing. Show me one thing I've ever said about Favre that wasn't true. Go ahead...name one single comment. When he was great I said he's great. In the Elway debate I had him top 5 all time. How is that marginalizing his accomplishments and bashing him? But when I'm objective and point out how he sucked for two years and sucked in the playoffs the past 9 years you get all bent out of shape and start coming up for excuses for him. Seems to me I'm the objective one. But this is all pointless as this is old territory. I see DB knows your type and how you think so I'll let him carry the flag and say what I was thinking.
So you are better than me because of what you read in a Favre debate. I'll just let that speak for it's self. You obviously take this stuff way to personal. And you have a great weekend.
