Another reason why I love all the personalities on this team. All of the receivers are such stand-up guys that you can't help but root for them.

Good stuff. I remember when Javon Walker said the same thing about catching passes from Favre and gaining his trust in camp and games. How he wont throw to him if he dropped to many passes. We'll thats not the case this year....

i got the same impression. The media normally makes favre out to be this great guy who hangs out with them. This really makes him seem standoffish

I disagree, to me it seems like the media has been saying that he doesn't hang around with the team often, his guys (Chmura and Winters) are gone and now he is the lone gunslinger. It shows that Favre asks for things to be proved to him before he just accepts someone. Greg earned his trust. This article wasn't written from the point of view of Brett, that is what made it interesting! If it were written from the Favre perspective they could talk about how he has been burned by guys in the past who he thought might help (ie. Terry Glenn, Robert Furgeson, Javon Walker) and now he isn't just so willing to just accpet these guys before they learn the game. I think this article adds to the Favre mistique. Well written, smart and insightful.

did anyone read the comment from the bears fan?

i agree that the ref may have started it. however the person that usually starts something rarely ever gets penalized. the person that retaliates is usually the one that gets caught and penalized. now i know this is all on tape. the ref should get fined and games taken away from him as well too. but to let Barnett off the hook is crazy. He was in the wrong too. Punish him minimum 4 games without pay. Come on Roger lay down the hammer and set the standard. None of this should be tolerated. Show that you are the tough commish

I think it shows that Favre, at this stage in a long career, has a lot in common with an old soldier that has seen too many friends and teammates come and go. It was common, for example, for longtime combat veterans in WWII to no longer to attempt to make friends with or even get to know the names of newer, younger replacement troops, having already lost many close friends and knowing the replacements may not survive for long.

Imagine that you worked for a company where a third of your coworkers disappeared from year to year, 50% were gone after 4 years and 98% turnover after 10 years. If you managed to stick around as long as Favre you too might naturally become much more selective about who you'd invest the time in to get to know.
