Ideas to Stay Warm

Post#1 » by JustinCredible » Sat Jan 19, 2008 5:27 am

Anybody have any clever suggestions or tricks to stay warm and comfortable at the game this Sunday? This is my first Packer game in about 4 years and I've never been to a really cold one. With temps expected around -15 with windchill it is vital for fans safety to plan properly for this game.

I just went out and bought some ear muffs, winter hat, face mask thingy, something to cover my neck, long underwear, wool socks, and TONS of hand warmers and foot warmers. Also picked up some padding to sit on at the stadium. Any ideas for something to put my feet on? I was thinking some thick styrofoam so that the cold from the concrete doesn't transfer so well to my feet.

Any other good tips for those attending the game to stay safe and warm?

P.S. I also plan on drinking enough to keep me warm on the inside too....haha.
All posts are my own opinion.

If you are still worried about your feet being cold, I'd pick up some of those heavy wool thermal socks. Wear some big rain/snow boots, throw some foot warmers in there and with the thermal socks, lights out. Dry/warm feet the entire game.

Also, I remember seeing some heatable sitting pad at Dunham's the other day. You can put it in the microwave for 2mins and it stays warm for like 5 hrs. I believe it also comes with some tray to allow you to heat it up on the grill. That thing would be money.

I'd pass on drinking beer unless you get drunk easy

It takes a ton of beer to get me drunk and at the last cold weather game i attended, all the beer did is make me colder. I finally said screw it and drank some hot chocolate.

Hope you have fun, but all i can say is i'm glad to be watching it on TV instead. I just took my dog outside for a quick five minute walk and i was ready to get back inside. The thought of being out there for 4-5 hours makes me cringe.

BTW, smart job on the face mask. That last cold weather game i mentioned, the wind killed my face. It felt like i was in a freezer with a fan blowing directly at my face. My face was so cold i was sticking my whole head inside my jacket and not even watching the game until it warmed up.

A little flask of whiskey should do the trick

While most won't listen, don't drink a lot because the booze or beer will make you colder because your blood flow slows.

I am going and I just picked up a new pair of heated socks. They run on a D battery and keep your toes warm.

Under armor is great.

Layers, layers, layers!!

Also, bring something to sit on, and something to rest your feet on as well. Your feet will stay warmer if you keep them off of the concrete.

have fun at the game! I will be there cheering with you!

Like others here, I would recommend getting some heated socks and putting on layers and layers of clothing.

Also, if you spill or anyone else spills something (like beer, for instance) on your body, dry yourself immediately. The liquid becomes cold, then it stays on your body and you shiver.

Have fun at the game and good luck staying warm.

drinking makes it worse...plus you miss half the game going to the can and un-doing all your layers.

buy the thermal socks from rei or gander mountain (or somewhere similiar)...you need a good socks/boots combo...the handwarmers and footwarmers will help too...even the battery operated socks if you can find them

do not forgot a cushion or blanket to sit on! the metal seats are cold as h, and usually have ice on them...then if you get wet...it's not fun

wear snow pants and bring a hat/hood to cover the ears
