Packers are very interested in Chiefs TE Kris Wilson who would add depth at the TE position with Bubba Franks gone.

Sounds like we'd be adding another TE 'weapon' as opposed to a blockade type of player. It says that's Kris is "improving" but we've all heard that term thrown around and can mean absolutely nothing. Are we that confident in our OL not to need a TE to take on that responsibility? Would this be simply a depth pick up as oppose to filling a slight need for a change of pace TE?

You can tell that profile is from a team's website - its hype where all players are great.

JSwebsite story says he's avg 8 ypc which is 1 yd < Franks. Mostly a blocker. Not sure thing to beat Humphrey for #2 spot.

Adding another receiving threat at TE will be pointless if our offensive line isn't rock solid and we have to run max protects. I also firmly believe our running game was a bigger threat with Bubba Franks healthy. I really hope we draft Martellus Bennett, who is a blocking monster and a 6'7 athletic stud in the red zone.

I really like Bennett. He reminds me of a more athletic Bubba, but I wouldn't want to take a TE as high as it would take to get him. Cottam is a guy I hope we are targeting in round 3 or 4. We can afford to get a raw freak like him and develop him, especially if we end up signing Wilson.

He isn't actually much of a recieving threat, he's more of a blocker. I'd love to throw him in the mix with Humphrey so we can use more double TE formations. I can tell you despite the great hype of this years TE draft class, none of them really have impressed Packers management so don't be surprised if the Pack takes way later in the draft as opposed to earlier.

I agree with points that both of you made. First of all, picking him at #30 is too high but he won't be around when we pick in the 2nd.

He's not somebody who is going to stretch the defense, but he's a solid receiving target. I agree that none of the tight ends in this class seem to be complete. Each and every one of them is lacking something big.
