Who will be Rodgers' backup?

Post#1 » by Kerb Hohl » Wed Mar 5, 2008 2:49 am

Who do we bring in to back up Rodgers and maybe even to give him some competition?

If you'd like to draft one, which round/tier would you like to look at one?

If you'd like to pick up a FA, your options are fairly limited now...Culpepper or Carr(who sucks) maybe?

Any particular trade targets that might be available or want out?

Craig Nall?

I agree with you...David Carr seems to be a good idea but if Culpepper is ok being the #2 QB then I say Green Bay should go get him.

Culpeppar IF he's OK as #2. I doubt it. Plus someone will offer more than TT will pay.

Unless coaches doubt Rod - do not use 1st day pick on QB. Rookie shoulf be #3 first year anyway.

Nall >>> Carr.

So sign Nall for cheap and draft QB 4th or lower.

I'm afraid that Nall is a #3 at best.

I don't think a trade will be neccesary.

I figure TT will draft a QB in the middle or late rounds.

But I think Rodgers' backup will be acquired via FA. However, I want nothing to do with Carr. He can't scramble, holds on to the ball too long, and simply cannot and will not be a good backup for A-Rod. Culpepper is a shell of his former self, but he still has a very good arm and is still an above-average scrambler. He would make a nice backup/fill-in starter.

Anyone remember those old Bob and Brian "All My Packer" recordings? I was way younger when I heard all of them but I fondly remember listening to the one when Majkowski gets pulled over. They had him in the bullwinkle voice:

Cop: How do you spell your name, sir?
Don: Uhhhh, M-a-j....kowski

Draft Colt Brennen if he falls to the 4th or 5th round, which is where Kiper is saying he will fall. If not Colt I think Aaron Brooks would be nice. I don't think Nall would be a good influence for Rodgers. IMO

Culpepper.

I think the guy still has plenty of talent...only question I have about him is his durability. Since that seems to be everyone's main concern about Rodgers, I'm not so sure it would be wise to get an injury prone QB to back him up.

But he's a far better option than Nall, Brooks, and Brunell. I'd like to draft a QB in the later rounds, but I'd rather have Daunte be the backup. Make it happen, Ted.

Culpepper would be a terrible fit for our offense. I definitely don't see that happening.

Culpepper might be the worst option out there...he's an atrocious fit for the Packers O.

Bring in someone like Brunell, or maybe convince Dilfer to come back for one more year. Maybe sign someone like Quinn Gray, but I'd prefer the previos two.

then draft someone in the later rounds.

yeah, it is only fair for Majic to get the first shot since he lost his spot because he was hurt!

I think it would be a funny ESPN commerical spoof to do so!
