This whole article is interesting. I think that it will be difficult to decide who gets extensions, but I am hoping that we lock up Greg Jennings long term.

I know Jennings a little bit. I've always had the impression he'd rather play somewhere else. Although he's from the midwest he really hates cold weather. His wife Nicole doesn't care for Green Bay either.

Certainly we can use a tag on him and keep him if we wish and in the end I think he'll be back.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Could this be another reason TT was not to motivated to bring back Favre? By him going to the Jets, they have an extra 10-12 million to use on extensions this year if they can get them done.

I definitely hope TT acts quickly to lock up our long term talent. I'm still bummed he didn't lock up corey williams a year early when the packers had their chance.

I'm all for Ted Thompson's conservative approach in free agency, but to offset that I hope he is pro-active in keeping our own guys in the fold.

I don't know him but I've heard this as well.

I wonder if Jennings' unwillingness to sign a multi-year deal deal or maybe his dislike of Green Bay in general has anything to do with Green Bay going after Nelson last April? Maybe they see two more seasons of Jennings and hope that by then the WR core can go on with Jones, Nelson and Martin?

That would be unfortunate.

I certainly wouldn't offer Jennings more than he is worth... But he is a top 10 or 15 WR in the NFL in my opinion. So losing him would be huge even if Jones, Martin or Nelson also became a great WR.

I think the drafting of Nelson is directly related to the possibility of losing Jennings.

Hopefully Ted will use a bushel load of this cash to keep sign A-Rod or Jennings to an extension in December and then we can franchise the other guy if needed.

If A-Rod keeps this up, he could be looking at a $15-20mm signing bonus with an extension, that could be all put in the 2008 cap year.

That's the positive to keeping cap space that often isn't thought of by fans. Being able to use it to help offset the cost of resigning your own guys.
