Still think too little too late for the Packers to make it, but anything that hurts the Vikings always brings a smile to my face.

I would be shocked if they beat Arizona, Atlanta and NY. Hell, I could even see Detroit taking them out this weekend.

The Packers' chances aren't good, but they're not remote either.

They just caught up with Pat Williams, and asked him how he's taking the news:

If we win out, we have a miniscule chance. I don't see the Vikings losing 3 of 4, mainly because the Giants will be resting all their guys with HFA locked up. 2-2 could happen.

The only lock loss I feel for them is at Zona. All the other three are winnable, considering that the Falcons and Giants games are both at home.

This does help us, but we have to win out and get help.

I could very easily see Minnesota losing three of the next four and GB winning three of the next four.

Provided two of the wins are against Chicago and Detroit the tiebreaker goes to Green Bay due to Division record. If the loss is against Chicago the tiebreaker will go to Minnesota because they'll have the better conference record.

Luke, if we win out the Vikings would have to go 3-1 because if both teams end up at 9-7 the tiebreaker would go to Green Bay. If the Vikings can win three from

@ Detroit
@ Arizona
Atlanta
and NY

and do it without the Williams sisters then screw it, they deserve to make the playoffs.

I agree DB, and I think the Vikes will finish the season slumping. The problem is the Packers can't seem to take care of their own business. The Vikings are choke artists with or w/o the William's sisters.

Yeah, like I said in the other thread, its not over. Even with the William's, it was going to be tough to win three games given that schedule. Beating the Texans, Jags, and Detroit isnt that difficult. It really comes down to that Bears game. The Packers win, they are in, lose, and they're out.

Although the Bears suck they have 11 days before they play us. They have a Thursday night game the week before and then we play them on a Monday. The Bears could actually sneak in.

Yeah, I'm almost more concerned about the bears than the queens at this point. But it all comes down to taking care of our own business, and we haven't done that this season.

It sucks that the heart of the Vikings and Saints D-lines get taken out for cheating only a week or two after we played both teams.

I guess that does go to the luck part of the other thread. Last year these suspensions would have come the night before each team played Green Bay.

Fortunately the Vikings people were suspended after they beat the Bears.

I agree that the Bears are the biggest competition right now. Hopefully they choke away 2 games.

If the Bears are our biggest competition, then we control our own destiny. And I wouldn't be shocked to see Detroit's first W of the year come against Minnesota without the two fat boys.

We should win at least 3 of these games, right? The Jaguars are a bad team as well. If we don't win the final four, we don't deserve to be playing in January anyway.

We only need the Bears to lose once and then us beat them in Chicago, that assuming we win out which i see being far from a given.

Minnesota judge issues a temporary restraining order to lift the suspension. What a shock.

I need to read more about this judge. This is pretty rare when a judge meddles in matters relating to the collective bargaining agreement of a pro sports league. Usually judges are very deferential on these matters and stay out. I'd think the NFL would have a fast appeal going on this in order to get this over-ruled before the weekend.

Vikes' Williamses likely in this week

Wednesday, December 10, 2008 | Print Entry

Pat and Kevin Williams appear to be safe from suspension for a second week because of some helpful timing issues in their case in a federal court in Minneapolis. Judge Paul Magnuson, who is overseeing the NFLPA's case against the NFL, is tied up in court this week and can't get to the Williamses' case until Friday at the earliest. With the Saints playing Thursday, Saints defensive end Will Smith and halfback Deuce McAllister will get to play, so it would seem unlikely that Magnuson would uphold the suspensions on the Williamses. Magnuson is not under any deadline except the NFL's urging that he decide the case. The Williamses will continue to hope to stretch out the case for a couple of weeks.

While the Vikings want the Williamses to make this year's playoffs, the lingering effect of the cases of the three Saints, including defensive end Charles Grant, could hurt New Orleans' playoff chances in 2009. Let's say the NFL wins the case after the 2008 season. Grant, Smith and McAllister would be out for the first four games of next season. McAllister could be cut, so the Saints might not be affected by his carryover suspension. But it could be tough for the Saints to get off to a good start in 2009 without their two top defensive ends. The stakes are high in this StarCaps diuretic case.

Hopefully, they are suspended during the playoffs now.

I heard on the radio that the Judge sided with the players. The NFL is free to appeal the ruling in a higher court.

Regardless, they won't be suspended this season.
