Highlights so far from the JS.

Green Bay - Mike McCarthy has started.

Mark Tauscher has not yet has his knee surgery.

Scott Wells needs shoulder surgery.

Chad Clifton needs a couple of surgeries to clean some things out.

Justin Harrell needs to be re-evaluated.

On possible staff changes: "I'm really at the beginning of it. Those are things that we'll look at."
McCarthy will start meeting with the coordinators.

McCarthy will meet with the coordinators today and then move on to the other assistants.

12/31/2008 09:11 AM
As far as his self-evaluation, McCarthy said "Well, 6-10. My name is on the door. It starts with me."

12/31/2008 09:15 AM
On whether this team needs to add free agents on defense: "I think that's convenient to attack the youth of our team."

12/31/2008 09:15 AM
On changes: "I'm going to go through the evaluation process and I'm going to set a course for success."

12/31/2008 09:17 AM
As normally happens, McCarthy expects 20 percent of his roster to change.

12/31/2008 09:18 AM
"All of our schemes are under evaluation right now."

12/31/2008 09:19 AM
We're doing more variations of the zone-blocking scheme than we did in year one...I don't run schemes because so and so won a world championship. We're creative and aggressive.

12/31/2008 09:22 AM
Being the youngest team is not something McCarthy is aiming for, and he doesn't think the Packers will be that again.

12/31/2008 09:22 AM
Injuries were not the reason why the Packers went 6-10. "We didn't overcome them enough."

12/31/2008 09:24 AM
On losing all seven games by four points or less, "You have to look at that. And we will."

12/31/2008 09:26 AM
"Yes, we definitely made the right move at the quarterback position. I was very happy with the productivity at the quarterback position."

12/31/2008 09:29 AM
I didn't get the job done. We were 6-10.

12/31/2008 09:30 AM
Pressure is a concern. That's something Bob and I will talk about.

12/31/2008 09:32 AM
McCarthy acknowledged that he and Sanders talked about more pressure packages last off season.

12/31/2008 09:34 AM
On Winston Moss: "I spent some time with Winston yesterday and we'll talk more tonight."

12/31/2008 09:36 AM
On Ryan Grant : "I had a long conversation with Ryan Grant. It wasn't all on Grant. The running game wasn't in sync."

12/31/2008 09:40 AM
Jason Spitz will get a look at center.

The talk with Sanders should go like this:
