They have asked for an extension so the game isn't blacked out. KFAN is giving away tickets.
And they want a new stadium? Pathetic franchise.

Re: OT: Queens Playoff Game Still Not Sold Out
Pretty sad. Its not like they've been spoiled with alot of playoff games in the last 5-10 years either. I think its a matter of time before they end up in Los Angeles. If they can't sell out playoff games, let alone it might get blacked out, I don't see a stadium going there and that will be the end of them in Minnesota. They would have to work out a lease with the Gophers new stadium. As much as I dislike the Vikings, I wouldn't want to see them go to LA. Green Bay-Minnesota is a pretty good heated rivalry.

Every Vikings home game for the last 10 years has been sold out, this one will be too.

Only because some Twin Cities businesses scoop up the tickets and give them away/sell cheap.

The fact that with just 3 days to go now before a PLAYOFF GAME and they still aren't sold out, is beyond pathetic. It's hilarious from a rivals standpoint though.

Potential good news for Vikings
January 1st, 2009 – 4:24 PM by Judd Zulgad
We’ve been trying to find out this week if it’s possible that the Vikings could get a second extension from the NFL in an attempt to avoid a local television blackout of their game on Sunday against Philadelphia.
Well, we just got an answer. The Associated Press reported the league granted a second, final 24-hour extension of its television blackout deadline for the Arizona Cardinals’ wild card playoff game against Atlanta on Saturday. The team has until 3:30 p.m. on Friday to sell its remaining tickets. A sellout crowd is necessary for the NFL to lift its blackout of the home television market. In a news release, the team said 3,700 tickets remained.
The Vikings announced today that they have 8,000 tickets remaining for Sunday. The NFL gave them a 24-hour extension until 3:30 p.m. Friday to sell those tickets but now it’s likely another extension into Saturday will be announced tomorrow. Still, it will be interesting to see if the team can move 8,000 tickets on a Friday and then a weekend day.
pathetic

Impressive. The waiting list for season tickets here is 30+ years.

Re: OT: Queens Playoff Game Still Not Sold Out
The Vikings' quest to sell out their playoff game against Philadelphia and avoid a local television blackout is going to overtime.
Just as it did with the Arizona Cardinals a day earlier, the NFL granted the Vikings a rare second 24-hour extension Friday to sell the 3,100 tickets that remained for Sunday's game at the Metrodome. Those tickets must be gone by 3:30 p.m. today, or the Vikings will have a game blacked out for the first time since the 1997 regular-season finale.
The Vikings apparently aren't going to get last-minute help from the corporate community. Fox would have appeared to be a logical candidate to purchase the remaining tickets, provided the number was small enough, because it owns KMSP (Ch. 9), which stands to air the game and thus generate advertising revenue.
Steve LaCroix, Vikings vice president of sales and marketing, said Friday: "There's no corporate buyout in our back pocket, whether it be a company or Fox. It's got to be through our fans and through our sales channels on that end."
Remaining tickets are priced at $80, $120 and $160. Revenue generated from playoff ticket sales goes to the league, not individual clubs.
"We had a good productive 24 hours of about 5,000 seats [sold] and now we're within striking distance," LaCroix said.
LaCroix had to be encouraged the Cardinals were able to move their remaining tickets for today's game against Atlanta. A Cardinals spokesman said the team started Friday with 2,400 tickets left.
The Vikings' push to sell tickets included an ad posted on their website in which defensive end Jared Allen "begs the people of Minnesota to buy up these tickets."
The Vikings began the week with 20,000 tickets remaining because only 55 percent of the team's 55,000 season ticket holders purchased playoff tickets. The NFL requires the Vikings to sell 62,000 tickets to consider a Metrodome game sold out.
The Eagles have been encouraging fans to make the trip from Philadelphia and "paint Minneapolis green."

Wow. Having to make a PLEA to fans to purchase tickets for a playoff game. That is all kinds of awful and it's hilarious.
