Pack Interested in Douglas and Wright

In the aftermath of free agent defensive linemen Colin Cole and Chris Canty signing with other teams, the Green Bay Packers have had preliminary discussions with three other prospects.

The agents for San Diego's Igor Olshansky, Baltimore's Marques Douglas and New England's Mike Wright have all had preliminary discussions with the Packers, although no visits have been set up, according to NFL sources. All three of the players would be able to help the Packers at the end position.

It's unclear the level of interest on the Packers' part with Douglas and Wright, but Olshansky appears to be someone they'll have more discussions about.

Olshansky and Douglas both played end in the 3-4 defenses and would not have trouble making the transition. Wright has played end and tackle for the Patriots and would be well-suited for end in the Packers' scheme.

Olshansky, 26, and Wright, 27, are unrestricted free agents. Douglas, 31, was released by the Ravens on Friday after playing in 16 games with them last year

Dolphins cut Vonnie Holliday. He's older, but he's still a better player than any of the other free agent 3-4 ends.

Wright is a tough, hard-nosed player with average athletic ability. He has good size and strength as an interior defender, but lacks great range outside the tackle box. He is a solid reactor as the play unfolds, he feels pad pressure well to press back and restrict running lanes. He can only be effective, when he keeps his pads down because he tends to give ground at times versus power zones teams or versus double-team schemes. He is a solid technician, when using his hands and can make plays in his gap responsibility. He has value giving depth to the Patriots' defensive line, but hasn't excelled as a special teams contributor and is somewhat-one dimensional.

If we added Wright and Igor I would really be happy w/ signing those two
Wright adds good depth/versitility
Igor = solid starter (dont know how much he would cost though)

a front of

Igor/Harrel/Wright/Jolly
Pickett/Wright/Jolly
Jenkins/Jolly/Wright

Seems like a pretty solid front....w/ that front we should be able to substitute lineman w/o a real talent drop off

Then if we draft someone like Orakpo to match up w/ Kampman the defense could be pretty scary IMO
