Peppers trade rumor

A few sources are claiming this is on the table:

Al Harris, Brady Poppinga, Brian Brohm, #9

for

Peppers and #59

Wanted to get some thoughts on this trade.

In my opinion, if that's on the table and we pass on it I'll be pissed. Sure Peppers will command a ton of money, but it won't be much (if any) more than we'd pay those 4 players anyways. Plus, while we move down in the draft, we don't actually lose a pick. TT's record of picking players in the 2nd has been great, and we'd have 2 2nds and 2 3rds, along with a potential game changing player. Just think of Kampman and Peppers coming off the edge, dayum.

Interesting.

But what sources?

Saw it at www.packerchatters.com, Arrigo posted it and 2 days before he posted it, it was supposedly brought up on 107.5 the fan.

No to the trade.

But yes, what are your sources?

EDIT: I see now
This rumor was mentioned along with the other

2. Another rumor has the Packers dealing Harris, the first and 2 thirds to KC for Tony Gonzalez and the #3 overall pick (Aaron Curry).

I might take this one. Though I believe Curry will be gone, hopefully Jason Smith is there. If not, then pass on the trade.

I dont like either trade. Seems kinda steep. I like Peppers and Gonzalez but seems like alot to give up to get them. I dont see Ted giving up a first and two third rounders and a player for a player and 3 overall. Also the Pepper trade were giving up two starters and a first rounder which would be a starter. Dont care about Brohm. Let say we do the Pepper deal. Then we need a starting cb and another lb. I know the game all starts with the lines. So Peppers and Kampman need to really tear it up to keep the opposing qb scrambling cause who know what cb we will have.

Come on man, you can't post that and not provide a link.

How often do trades like this occur?

Blockbuster deals plus major first round draft movement?

I like Aaron Curry's physical tools, but how do we know if he can even rush the passer? Seems iffy to draft a guy for a pass rushing position when the most sacks he's ever had in a season is 3.

If we think that Curry is the guy, then the 2nd trade is not all that much. If you have seen the draft pick value charts, you would know that the jump from #9 to #3 is massive. That is the difference between a starter and a blue chip. If you can make that jump AND add one of the best tight ends in the game, I think you have to do it. Curry legitimately looks like the only blue chip defensive player in the draft. Right now it really looks like there is only 3 blue chips in the draft: Stafford, Crabtree, and Curry.

No to both trades. Especially that first one. I don't think it would be too much to ask to have at least one LB starting at OLB.

Never. Until I see a source I'll assume these are fictional.

Not bloody likely

Peppers cant be traded yet any way. He didnt sign the franchise tag papers. Panthers dont have much asking power. Also he probably wants Haynesworth money probably too. If anything Peppers for #9 straight up should be good enough. I wouldnt be giving all them players up. Thats just more holes made.

What were the Chiefs asking from us last season for Tony? Wasnt it a second rounder and we offered a third rounder? So why would he cost more this year of Harris and a first and two thirds?

We get to move up to their first at #3 in the scenario posted above.

Actually, if you strictly look at the point totals for the draft chart that teams use for trades:
http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php

3rd pick: 2,200 points

for

9th pick: 1,350
+
73rd pick: 225
+
81st pick: 185
=
1,760.

Throw in Harris and maybe that makes up the extra 440 points, but I doubt that kind of...not sure if Harris is worth a mid 2nd.

So basically, we'd be shorting them for the #3 pick and getting Gonzalez for free over the top. I guess I'd take it in terms of value.

EDIT: You have...the...greatest...avatar...ever. Off the top of my head that play is run by the Lions, Eagles, Falcons, Oilers...right?

Maybe the Skins and Chargers, too? Those are the type of teams that have the 1-back set (except the Eagles).

I doubt TT would want to move up the draft. His MO is to trade down for more picks. Tony would be a nice safety net for Rodgers on the check down list though.

Why don't we just trade Rodgers for QB Eagles and Grant for Christian Okoye...dudes would be bouncing off our running attack.

Add in David Fulcher and LT on defense and you could have 2 guys in the backfield before they can even hand it off.

EDIT: Screw Blackmon...Gill Fenerty returning kicks/punts = much better.

I have never played an emulated version with updated rosters.

Does Jennings just torch guys down the sideline when he is in Excellent condition?

Jennings is the receiver at the top of my avatar in the playbook and Driver is the bottom receiver. I forced to Jennings twice and got picked off against the Vikings. Also Grant got injured on first play of the game after he ran 24 yards. Kampman at lb is a beast. Him and Bishop were all over the place.
