Its more of a friend of a friend kinda rumor. I wouldnt read to much into it. But the deal would be if Crabtree is there at 9. We draft him. Then trade Jennings to Ravens for Suggs.

Why in the world would the Ravens do this?

They already lost Bart Scott and might lose Ray Lewis to another team.

I don't want to trade my 3rd favorite Packer :(

I know but figured to throw it out there since this is a quiet offseason.

Even if it is quiet doesnt mean you pull trades out of wherever. I mean no doubt in my mind I would do it, Basically Crabtree an Suggs for Jennings, um yeah. If this comes off as sounding bad, its not meant to be, I am just getting frustrated for the first time under TT's reign because of his lack of involvement. There was some players I liked a lot this off season and he is basically just sitting around thinking his 6-10 team will come back with out any new pieces and go 12-4.

The 2007 Packers went from 8-8 to 13-3 with additions of Ryan Grant and Atari Bigby...2 names that we might not have even had more than 10 comments about when they came in here.

The 2008 Panthers went from 7-9 to 12-4. They got contributions out of Jonothan Stewart, their draft pick (we are allowed to draft too), and picked up an over-the-hill Mushin Muhammed. Delhomme missed quite a few games in '07 but they were only 8-8 in '06 with him out there.

The 2008 Ravens went 5-11 to 11-5. Flacco was a key contribution, no doubt...but not the difference.

There are probably plenty more examples. But there are 3 teams right there that had a down year the previous year because of a few injuries or growing pains. They had minimal additions and here they are.

How many of those teams completely changed defensive systems while adding nobody that fits that particular system. Yeah I would say none. We just have so many holes, on the offensive line, defensive line, and linebackers. And as far as the draft I dont see anybody that can really step in right away and contribute besides maybe one of the LT. I dont believe Brown or Maybin can do this. Therefore we will have basically the same defense that allowed rusher after rusher to gain 100 yards last year. And btw, all those teams you mentioned above had great defenses. We didnt have that last year and unless Jenkins comes back strong, or Harrell steps up, with Harris and Woodson adding another year nothing really tells me to expect a great defense from us next year

If all of those teams mentioned above have great defenses, then why can't the 2007 Packers defense show up instead of the 2008 one this year? I realize we have changed systems but the only difference really is Corey Williams/Cole/KGB. 3 guys I think we can replace in FA/draft in terms of contribution.

All 3 of those of guys were contributors. Williams was dominant all season long. And his loss last year proved to be disastrous. KGB that year atleast had some sort of legs left, probably not his best year but he played well when he was the 3rd down pass specialist. I dont know what Cole did that year, IIRC he came on late and played a nice roll as good disrupter from the DT position. We lost 2 of those 3 last year and the lack of depth we had at DL last year was a killer. And looking at it now its going to kill us again. (I do know we will add a couple)

CV, we aren't replacing anybody with a FA while TT is the GM! i can't believe you even suggested that as an option. with TT, it's draft or bust!

It seems to me that on defense, 3 of our starters were free agents this past year: Bigby, Woodson, Pickett.

On offense that number is pretty close to zero...however, our offense was pretty good, so I wouldn't complain much.

I like it simply because it appears we won't be able to sign Jennings. Suggs is a beast, and is exactly what we need if we're going to run a 3-4.

TT knows how much it will take to resign Jennings. If he doesn't want to pay it then now is the time to trade him. Otherwise you either let him walk or tag him and trade him a year from now. You'll get more for him tradiing him now.

In past years I'd be hesitant to deal a guy as good and as young as Jennings. But TT, if nothing else, knows how to find wide receivers and this is a deep class of wideouts.

Driver
Nelson
Jones
Martin

That's not a bad group of targets. I'd be very open to dealing Jennings if it meant we could get a young impact defensive player.

I'd be sad to lose Greg but I agree IF that were possible. However we won't get an impact D player and we won't trade Jennings. If we do TT will take picks.

I love watching Jennings play and would be borderline crushed to see him go, but if he's walking out the door, might as well get something good for him.
