Vonnie Holliday's cell phone definitely works.
"I'm just getting off the plane," the former Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins defensive end said Wednesday afternoon as he arrived in Denver for his free-agent visit with the Broncos.
Now, if only the caller ID would flash a 920 area code and his former team would show more interest in him.
Since being released by the Miami Dolphins on Monday, Holliday said his agent, Cary Fabrikant, has spoken with the Packers "back and forth," with Packers co-director of football operations Reggie McKenzie serving as the Packers' point man.
"But nothing serious," Holliday said.
Asked if he would like to return to Green Bay, where he started his career as the No. 19 overall pick in 1998 and spent five seasons before then-coach/GM Mike Sherman opted to re-sign Cletidus Hunt instead of him, Hollday was unequivocal.
"I would love to see that, but (the Packers) haven't really made any serious...
