Rumors Fly Of Scouting Combine Positive Drug Tests

Although the NFL teams have yet to receive the list of players who tested positive for substances of abuse and/or banned substances at last month’s Scouting Combine, rumors already are circulating as to players who tested positive.

Specifically, we have heard the names of two potential first-rounders. For obvious legal reasons, we won’t be disclosing the names until official confirmation is obtained.

One league source told us that there’s simply no way to know at this point whether the rumors are accurate.

“I have a hard time believing the information could have gotten out,” the source said. “It’s like stealing the Mona Lisa. I don’t know if it’s true or not.”

The source points out that the two players who are rumored to have tested positive are believed to have tested positive at the college ranks. So it could be that rumors of past positive tests have been twisted into rumors of positives test at the Combine.

Because every player attending the Combine knows (or should know) that he’ll be tested in Indy, anyone who tests positive is either ridiculously stupid, or he has a real problem.

I don't think it's about marijuana. The two players I mentioned added a lot of weight/muscle between the offseason and the combine so you know where that's headed..

Back on topic, I can't believe the balls of these guys (whoever it may be) if it turns out these rumors are true, even if it was during the college ranks. With all the hoopla surrounding steroids / banned substances and big name stars in professional sports in the last few years, it amazes me that guys are still willing to take a risk like that just for an edge in their sport.

In the end I don't know how much positive steroid tests will really hurt these guys. Teams know that once they get to the league there will be avenues to go down if they want to take PEDs and not get caught.

IMO a positive test for marijuana is much worse if you're a GM. Take a PED and you're basically trying to get better at your job, even though you're cutting corners. Pot just means you're a dope and extremely stupid.
