Coach Mike McCarthy is ranked the 16th-best coach in the NFL by RealScouts, a group of former NFL scouts who do work for Sporting News Today.

"He has the necessary belief in his team to make bold changes and make them pay off," the brief summary of McCarthy reads. "Last year, he dumped Brett Favre for Aaron Rodgers. This season, he moves his defense to a 3-4 scheme. He always is looking for ways to make the team better."

Brad Childress of Minnesota is ranked ahead of McCarthy at No. 11. Lovie Smith of Chicago is ranked behind him at No. 20, and Jim Schwartz of Detroit is ranked No. 27, among the 32 head coaches in the league.

Bill Belichick of New England is ranked No. 1, followed by Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants, Andy Reid of Philadelphia, Jeff Fisher of Tennessee and Mike Tomlin of Pittsburgh.

Josh McDaniels of Denver is ranked last, followed by Raheem Morris of Tampa Bay, Tom Cable of Oakland, Todd Haley of Kansas City and Jim Caldwell of Indianapolis.

When I was going to school in Minnesota, all of my friends that were Vikes fans hated Chilldress. I think it's mostly because they think AP should be getting a lot more carries. They also don't like the way he has handled the QB situation. I'd agree with them on the QB handling, but I think not over working AP could be smart for the organization. AP has a history of injury issues and if he were to go down, that team basically has no shot at making the playoffs.

Overall though, I think McCarthy is probably a top 10-15 head coach. Chilldress I'd say would be in the bottom 10-12 coaches. I'd put Lovie Smith in about the same range as McCarthy. But that's just my opinion.
