Anyone going to Packers-Vikings games this year?

Post#1 » by LeopoldStotch » Tue Jul 7, 2009 10:02 pm

If/when Favre announces he's a Queen, ticket prices for these games on Craigslist/Stub Hub/ebay are going to be insane. I'm torn between trying to get a ticket or just enjoying the game in my comfy living room in glorious HD. It's tempting to go just to be able to say you saw Favre play the Packers as a Queen.

I'm thinking of trying to get tickets for the game in Minneapolis when single game tickets go on sale (July 20, I believe) at face value, although they're forcing people to purchase a package deal that includes the KC preseason game as well. Still, this has to be cheaper than buying from a secondary source.

Anyone already have tickets to either game? Anyone planning to try to get tickets? What's your plan? How much are you willing to spend?

I think the game would be a great experience and definitely one of the most memorable Packer games in history. Packers games in general are awesome, then you add in the rivalry factor and then on top of that you add in the Favre factor, and its going to be insane. I can't afford to buy tickets, but if I had them, I definitely would not sell them.

I'm wrestling with that, too. I'm going for free. Grandparents got my whole family tickets to the game back in the spring when they went on sale. But I really love Packers/Vikings games up here. Between the parties and the bars they're just amazingly fun. Add the HD factor and it's tough to think of something better. To be honest I'm not incredibly excited to go but I'm sure I'd regret it down the line and like you said, it's probably worth seeing Favre in purple coming back to Lambeau.

But if he's hurt or not on the roster I'm selling my seat.

I probably shouldn't watch either game at home because if we lose I'll probably destroy everything in my house.

Same here.

I will go out on a limb and say I won't go b/c ticket prices are going to be crazed. Unless somehow one of my connections comes through, this one is going to be over the top expensive I would think. I don't have season tickets nor close family, but last year found myself getting to all but 2 regular season games. But I don't forsee it happening for this one.

And for the record, the tickets are already sky high. I went on stubhub and essentially $300 is the lowest that I saw. I had a hard enough time paying $115 for the Cowboy game last year. I love the atmosphere and being there, but I hate overpaying for tickets.

Tickets are high now, they'll go higher when he official signs, then after the initial rush they'll drop quite a bit. And they'll go back up the week before each game.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Hell, maybe I'll just sell mine regardless.

I love Brewer games in the summer. College age crowds, great weather, Miller Park. I love Lambeau but I'm a pussy when it comes to the cold. All things being equal I like enjoying Packer games in the comfort of my own home.

That is always a tough call. Obviously that would be a hell of a game to be at atmosphere wise, rivalry, etc. BUT if you could possibly pull in almost 1K for tickets. That's very tempting.

I'm not big on the cold as I used to be, but I did okay at the Houston and Detroit game last year (among others). But I definitely prefer a nice fall game where its 50+ degrees.

I do enjoy Brewer games as well. I haven't felt the desire to go down as much this year. Not sure why as I suffered as a fan through the 90's and now they're good, but just not as into it this year. But I got the 9 pack again and pretty much sold every game I had except the Easter Sunday Cubs game. Brewer tickets had value and I just cashed in I guess. But love the weather, tailgating, etc too.

I have my tickets for both games. My buddies and I road trip to either Minny or Chicago for a game each year and meet up with other buddies who have the tickets through their business. Always a great time! Should make the parties the night before and the day of (monday night game in minny) a special one!

Vikings' single-game seats sale excludes Packers and Bears

I was planning on trying to get tix to the Minneapolis game when single-game seats go on sale Monday. Apparently, the Queens are now holding the singles for the Packers and Bears games until a later date in an attempt to sell more season ticket packages. It's painfully obvious bringing in Favre is about selling tickets, first and foremost. Makes me hate the Queens even more, and now I probably won't get to see the Packers beat them in person.

It's hilarious that they have to have gimmicks to sell tickets in the first place.

Same here, I 've been to some of the colder games in recent memory and would much prefer watching the game in HD in my living room with the company of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

I am going to 5 out of the 8 home games this season, one of which is the Vikings game. I stopped going to home games against the Bears after we choked the game away two years ago and I had made some major bets with Bears fans in the stands.

Besides Vikings games and Bears games to a lesser degree, i've been losing some of my excitement over attending Packer games. With the expensive price of tickets, 7-8 dollar beers, and me really really really hating colder weather now compared to years ago, sitting in front of my plasma TV with a buddy watching the games in the warmth with cheap rum and cokes, some good food i make, having a bathroom a few feet away, and instant replays makes staying home much more appealing. Plus, then i don't have to drive home and miss the later games.

Yup I just go to one game a year now and always in September. The "Frozen Tundra" is legendary but not all that much fun. I've been to my share of ice games. No longer interested in that. I think this year I'm going to the Cincinnati game. Still nice weather and easy to get tix.

A bunch of softies in here...

I hate the cold just as much as the next guy, but I always suck it up if I have a chance to experience Lambeau. Anyone that wants to shed cold weather tickets, let me know.

Girlfriends dad has season tickets and although I didn't expect him to give us the Vikings/Packers game, it's still a little disheartening that he is selling them to the highest bidder, although he will receive a good chunk of change. Something a college kid can't afford but I guess I can't complain seeing that I do get 1 free game a year, even though said game has been seeing the lions for the past 2 years. We request the cold weather games usually in December, I just can't see myself going to a game when I'm not dressed in the entirety of my winter gear.

Favre's waffling...again. Sell high, sell now.
