Let's get some predictions on what you guys think the Packers regular season record will be in 2009 before the team begins playing pre-season football.

Then after pre-season we can make our official predictions and get a little more in depth but right now let's make a rough draft prediction and then we can see how our predictions changed if at all after watching the team in exhibition.

Right now im going to go with 11-5 and NFC North Division champs..

As for individual player predictions I think Rodgers will be in the running for league MVP,Im not predicting he'll win it but he will get some votes and be in the race.

8-8 or 9-7...

If I had to pick one I would say 9-7.

I think we start off slow and then really pick it up towards the end, winning a playoff game and then being knocked out in the second round.

Packers Schedule

WK 1 vs Chicago -- W
WK 2 vs Cincinnati -- W
WK 3 at St Louis -- W
WK 4 at Minnesota -- L
WK 5 BYE
WK 6 vs Detroit -- W
WK 7 at Cleveland -- L
WK 8 vs Minnesota -- W
WK 9 at Tampa Bay -- L
WK 10 vs Dallas -- W

WK 12 at Detroit -- W
WK 13 vs Baltimore -- W
WK 14 at Chicago -- L
WK 15 at Pittsburgh -- L
WK 16 vs Seattle -- W

We have a shot at running the table at home, but our road schedule is pretty brutal towards the end of the year. I'll go with 10-6 at this point.

We start out really well, and fade down the stretch. This might sound ridiculous, but I don't think it's completely implausible to start 11-0. The difficult games are:

@Minny - Their disastrous QB situation could lead to our victory.
@Tampa - They're in the process of rebuilding. It's always been a tough game for us, but this might be the year we can pull it out.
Dallas - We can beat them at home.

But I think we'll lose the Tampa game.

That puts at at 12-4 with losses @Baltimore, @Pitts, @Az. I know that's really optimistic, but that's how I feel going into every preseason.

9-7 to 12-4 seem like the range so I will go with 10.5-5.5, haha

Without knowing their offensive efficiency, defensive efficiency, win scores from last season and pace adjusted points per possession I really have no way of making an accurate prediction.

I think they win at least 9 games unless they suffer a lot of injuries similar to last year. I think these are the games they could lose: @Minn, @Tampa, Dallas, BMore, @Chicago, @Pitt, and @Arizona. If the defense comes along faster than expected and the offensive line performs, in turn helping out the running game, I think they could win 11-13 games.

I hate being a parrot that copies everyone else, but 10-6 is also my best guess so long as Rodgers starts 15-16 games.

BTW, the kicking game really needs to step up this year. I generally think the importance of punters is near irrelevant, except for the caveat of when they suck badly. The punting game last year sucked after the boneheaded move to waive Ryan. Just get a punter who is reasonably decent please. Crosby also needs to step up his game. He has a great leg and the potential to be a top kicker who is both accurate and has a big leg, but in today's football, making only 80% of kicks isn't good enough, especially since so many games are close.

I'm going to go 11-5. Primary reasons:

1. Capers track record of vastly improving D's speaks for itself. I will say this D will be at least top 15, and I wouldn't be shocked to see it in the top 10-12.
2. Rodgers improvement. He had a great first year as starter, but I think a training camp without distractions and him coming in healthy with Jones healthy and Finley emerging are really going to make this offense hard to stop. I see us as a top 5 offense.
3. Schedule/bounces/injuries. Schedule speaks for itself, we got a pretty favorable one, but in terms of things going our way and injuries, those things tend to even themselves out, so given we had 4-5 defensive starters hurt a lot of last year and lost every single close game we played, I think we see more things go our way this year.

This was not a 6-10 team talent-wise last year.

WK 1 vs Chicago -- L
I think this D will take awhile to click and Chicago's D is still near the top of the league. The pressure they apply combined with our offensive line still coming together and the Bears playing inspired with Cutler will probably spell doom for us in week 1.

WK 2 vs Cincinnati -- W
We should win pretty easily here, although with Palmer coming back it could be a little more of a battle than expected. Rodgers should tear apart that secondary though.

WK 3 at St Louis -- W
I think St. Louis will be a lot better and Green Bay traditionally plays worse in domes so this game will be a battle but we'll come out on top.

WK 4 at Minnesota -- L
Again, dome game, and its hard to sweep a divisional opponent.

WK 5 BYE
We wont lose this week. Always look for the silver lining in everything.

WK 6 vs Detroit -- W
Lions at home is a no brainer.

WK 7 at Cleveland -- W
The Dog Pound ain't what it used to be.

WK 8 vs Minnesota -- W
We have to beat the Queens at home after losing to them earlier in the year. It just wouldn't be right.

WK 9 at Tampa Bay -- W
I think by this time, Freeman will be starting for Tampa so we should win pretty easily. If Leftwich is still starting by now he could manage to keep it close, but either way our overall talent wins out.

WK 10 vs Dallas -- L
Last year our offense couldn't really do much against Dallas' D and it's probably improved this year so I expect a similar result.

WK 11 vs San Francisco -- W
San Francisco is one of the many teams on our schedule who will be vastly improved but can't see them beating us at home. Singletary should have these guys pumped to play at Lambeau though.

WK 12 at Detroit -- L
This will be the shocker of the year. Detroit played us pretty well last year at Ford Field so I'm calling the upset special. I just think we could come out flat and uninspired just because its Detroit.

WK 13 vs Baltimore -- L
One of the best teams in the league with two of the top 5-7 defensive players overall. It'll be close but I think Baltimore just edges us.

WK 14 at Chicago -- L
I'm probably in the minority here but I think overall Chicago is just a better team than us with Cutler. They were better last year with Orton and Cutler obviously makes them better.

WK 15 at Pittsburgh -- L
Pittsburgh could win it all again. On the road we should lose pretty easily.

WK 16 vs Seattle -- W
Seattle can't beat us at Lambeau.

WK 17 at Arizona -- W
I most likely will be at this game so it better be a win.

9-7. Crappy four game stretch towards the end. Hopefully its enough to earn a wild card.

Question: If we post a winning record and miss the playoffs does that mean Thompson and/or McCarthy are gone?

Seems like every year there is always one team going into the season that is highly overrated and this year that team is the Chicago Bears in my opinion.

The Bears defense is not the same defense it was a couple years ago and will continue to decline. While I like Cutler and he is an upgrade at QB for the Bears Cutler is one of those guys who's good but not THAT good.Especially when you take into account he doesn't exactly have a great group of WRs to throw to.

Cutler is the type of QB who can make plays and get the job done if he has some weapons to work with (And if he's not out all night partying). Cutler is not the type of QB who is going to go out and make poor & mediocre WRs look good and carry an offense.Which is exactly what Cutler is going to have to do for the Bears to be successful this season and make the playoffs.

like I said he's good but not THAT good.
