Canned from BC, didn't get the Jets job, hired by Tampa to be their OC and now fired before their final preseason game.
Ouch.

I'm gonna be very interested in seeing how this effects the QB situation down there. I thought anyone with a brain could see that McCown was the better QB between he and Leftwich, but for some reason Byron was named the starter.

Yeah, I couldn't believe after their last preseason game that Leftwich had apparently distanced himself in the race for that job. I thought he looked horrible, missing open guys high, low, left and right.

Can anyone recall a similar hiring then firing like this?

This year. Chan Gailey was just fired as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. He didn't even make it to the regular season.

No not really but it has been reported that some coaches wanted Leftwich and others including Jagz wanted McCown (who from what I have seen and read has looked a lot better). Jagz and the Qb coach got into it, Jagz fired, QB coach new OC. JJ is a good coach though, he will land on his feet somewhere

But Gailey was the OC last year in Kansas City. Jagz was in his first year, never even made it to one regular season game with the Bucs.

He was the OC last year? Even though they just hired Haley to be the head coach? I didn't know that. That makes a little more sense as to why Gailey was fired then. I'm surprised Haley didn't bring in one of his guys right away.
