Saw a couple of cuts posted by Ryan5UW, but nothing official yet. We did trade for a corner/safety from Baltimore, however.
The Baltimore Ravens have traded safety-cornerback Derrick Martin to the Green Bay Packers, according to a league source.
The terms of the compensation haven't been disclosed, but it's likely a 2010 late-round conditional draft pick.
Martin had a strong training camp and preseason, but wasn't slated for much playing time in Baltimore.
He intercepted a pass this preseason.
An athletic former sixth-round draft pick from Wyoming, Martin drew praise from Ravens coach John Harbaugh for his consistency with Harbaugh predicting he had a good chance to make the 53-man roster.
Martin also operates as a gunner on the punt team.
He was sidelined last season on injured reserve, undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum.

Looks like our first surprise could be Brohm:
The Green Bay Packers were looking for a young backup to Aaron Rodgers in last year’s draft and the one they were not counting on has won out again.
This time it cost Brian Brohm a spot on the roster.
Multiple league sources indicate that the Packers will place Brohm on waivers. The second-round pick from Louisville a year ago struggled in preseason, and was beaten out for the No. 2 job last year by Matt Flynn, a seventh-round pick from LSU in 2008.
In a final effort, Brohm completed 20-of-28 passes Thursday night at Tennessee for 154 yards. He was not picked off and didn’t throw for a score in directing the offense to one touchdown and two field goals. But it was mostly short stuff that he threw.
He finished preseason 39-for-62 for 300 yards with no touchdowns, three interceptions and a passer rating of 54.5. His 4.8 yards per attempt is indicative of the struggles he had.
The Packers have been rumored to be in the market for a quarterback. It was thought they might make a play for Kevin O’Connell after he was cut loose in New England, but they did not make a claim for him. Luke McCown has been mentioned as a possibility but indications are he will remain in Tampa Bay. Green Bay investigated signing Michael Vick.
Green Bay will now likely explore options for a third quarterback, and that could include bringing Brohm back as a member of the practice squad.

Jeff Garcia cut by the Raiders, could be a decent insurance policy for Rodgers. But Flynn is the holder so either Garcia would have to be #3 or we have to break in another new holder a week before the season started.

UPDATED: The Packers appear to be keeping WR Brett Swain. Still don't know if they're going with six or if Ruvell Martin got cut.

Flynn could still the holder, but the #3 QB, couldn't he? But, I suppose teams usually don't have 3 QB's active for a game.

Smith, Martin among Packers' cuts
In a borderline stunning move, safety Anthony Smith was among the 18 players the Packers waived.
Receiver Ruvell Martin also is gone, beaten out by Brett Swain for the No. 5 spot.
Here's the rest of the list: wide receiver Jake Allen, quarterback Brian Brohm, cornerback Trevor Ford, guard/tackle Andrew Hartline, wide receiver Kole Heckendorf, linebacker Danny Lansanah, running back Kregg Lumpkin, defensive end Alfred Malone, Martin, tackle Jamon Meredith, nose tackle Dean Muhtadi, linebacker Cyril Obiozor, cornerback Joe Porter, tackle Dane Randolph, Smith, running back Tyrell Sutton, defensive end Ronald Talley and nose tackle Anthony Toribio.
Defensive end Justin Harrell, cornerback Pat Lee, tight end Evan Moore and safety Charlie Peprah were placed on injured reserve. Like Peprah, Moore likely will be waived with an injury settlement.
