OT: Urlacher probably out for season

Post#1 » by JHSFIVE » Mon Sep 14, 2009 3:07 pm

Brian Urlacher (dislocated wrist) said he appears to be out for the season.

There's no official word from the team yet, but it doesn't sound good as Urlacher had to have a dislocated bone put back in. It's a huge blow to the Bears' defense, who will either shift Lance Briggs to middle linebacker or try to use veteran Hunter Hillenmeyer to fill the gap. Urlacher now officially has an "injury prone" label.

Damn.... Bears are off to a rough start.

And Pisa Tinoisamoa hurt his knee as well. We were able to actually run the ball a bit in the 3rd after both of those guys went out.

Whatever.

Urlacher, while being a very good player, has always been overrated and at this stage of his career he is simply an average player.

I doubt Chicago's defense suffers all that much.

Urlacher looked pretty good against the run last night. Agree he's overrated, but disagree that it doesn't negatively impact the D, considering he's their best back 7 player easily and their LB depth is garbage with the Pisa injury.

HA. HA. HA. :D

I can't laugh at injuries, even to division rivals.

I don't know, I think Urlacher's still pretty good. There was a huge drop-off between him and Hillenmeyer last night. Major loss for the Bears.

This injury is still new and disgusting to me.

Yeah, not really funny when a guy gets hurt and is out the season.

It's ironic that they were talking about Urlacher finally being healthy this season during the broadcast. It must be bad if they can't put one of those club casts on it and have him try to play with it.

I can understand thinking he's now merely an above average player rather than great, but Hunter Hillenmeyer is horrific.

You're really going to laugh about a season-ending injury? Uncalled for.

It is a big blow to them. Sure Urlacher's overrated but he looked pretty good in the first half last night. He was swarming to the ball, something I don't think people have seen in a couple of years. There's a huge dropoff from Briggs-Urlacher-Tinoisamoa to Briggs-Hillenmeyer-Roach. The LB's were supposed to be the strength of that defense. Now they have a below average LB core to go along with a bad secondary and a middle of the road D-line.

They're doing their best to react.

****According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bears are talking to free agent LB Derrick Brooks.

Brooks, 36, would make sense in Chicago as he is comfortable in the scheme and knows Lovie Smith from their days in Tampa Bay. "He’s been training just like normal. He could play Sunday," said Brooks' agent. Brooks had workouts with the Saints and Raiders last month but left both teams without a contract, but the Bears are in desperation mode thanks to injuries to Brian Urlacher and Piso Tinoisamoa.****

I've dislocated my wrist. It hurt but it healed. People laughed at me and I didn't get my panties in a bunch. He's still gonna collect his paycheck. He's not paralyzed or laying on his death bed. He can still walk, eat, and masturbate.

So, hahahahaha. Suck it Bears.

I never applaud seeing someone injured, even a Bear. It's silly to say their defense wont suffer though, even overrated, he's still a very good linebacker.

This makes their small to begin with front 7 even smaller. This defense is going to wear out over the course of the season.

While I don't feel sorry for the Bears I wouldn't wish injuries on any player.

It actually kind of pisses me off I want the Packers to win the north vs good competition. If the Bears suffer injuries and if lets say Peterson went down for the Vikes and we won the division it would really cheapen it to me. Sure i'd still take it but I want the Pack to win vs the best competition.

I don't like see players going out for a year but after that late hit on Rodgers can't say I'm going to be sending a get well card anytime soon.
