I was looking at some mock drafts today, mainly because I am bored, and saw that the first round seems to be loaded with OT prospects. Anyone with knowledge of college football and the prospects know if this upcoming draft is actually as deep at that position as they are projecting?
If so, that could be great for the Packers next year.

Re: 2010 Draft Question
From what I've read, it's a very strong secondary and DL draft, but not super strong at OT. McShay has two OT's in his top 32 right now, Okung (7th overall), and Williams (8th overall).

Well I doubt we get up to the 7th or 8th pick... Hopefully more tackle prospects come through or else we are going to have to dip into free agency to get (possibly) two tackles. I guess drafting another 3-4 D-Lineman, an impact linebacker or any DB in the first round wouldn't hurt this team either.
Offensive line is a huge need though.

Re: 2010 Draft Question
It's got good/great but not elite tackle prospects. There isn't a Joe Thomas or Jake Long in there. Not that it would matter to us because we won't be picking that high anyway.
But I think there's a lot of potential RTs through the third round. You could get a guy like Sam Young in the second round and plug him in on the right from day one. Ciron Black has worlds of experience in the SEC and would also make a good RT. He'll go in the 2nd round, maybe the 3rd. Charles Brown will be a hot name next April because of his athleticism. Not many out there with his frame and mobility.
Russell Okung is the only guy I'd feel totally comfortable plugging into the LT position. He's someone I watched closely last season as I thought he'd come out and be an option for us. Now he's the top OT in the draft and a probably top 12 pick.

So either we get a shot at this Okung guy or we could take a good RT prospect in the 2nd/3rd round?
I guess we could try to use free agency to plug up LT until we have a chance to get a really good one and draft a great RB prospect or defensive player in the 1st.

I wouldn't have a problem taking a guy like Brown or Bulaga the first and let him play RT next season with the idea that he'd eventually be the LT of the future. The Ravens did that with Oher and it's working out.
Either way I think we should come away with two OT prospects in the first four picks if possible.

Agreed.
