Packers Might Trade Aaron Kampman

Post#1 » by BucksRuleAll22 » Thu Oct 8, 2009 6:33 pm

Im sure this is what alot of us have been thinking latley but I never thought the Packers would be thinking the samething. Kmapman is one of the best DEs in the NFL and I would hope the Packers would try to get a good tackle or guard, or any simlar skilled player that could help more.

Its TT though so he'll probly end up trading Kampman for a 3rd round draft pick and then trade that 3rd roun dpick for a 4th, and 5th and draft nobody.

Ah, gotcha.

I think trading Kampman for anything of value would be a good move for this team. He is NOT a 3-4 linebacker, if anything he is hurting the defense more than he is helping.

Picks or offensive line help would be what I am looking for. That's a lot better than losing him for nothing.

There's a blurb on wiretap from the JS. It's no surprise. If we plan to stick to the 3-4 beyond this year then you might as well trade him and get something for him. We're certainly not going to pay big money to him. If it's an uncapped year next year the requirement for being unrestricted goes from 4 years to 6 and Kampy would still qualify. I love how he plays but he's terribly out of place in the 3-4.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The question is how much value does he have? It's not like trading for a big time pitcher in baseball that can put you over the top. How big of an impact will he make for a team for 1/2 season. Unless that team really wants to sign him to a deal in which case they could always tag him and not risk losing him.

I think he could make a pretty big impact on any team playing the 4-3. He will provide an upgrade over almost any DE in football. (Unless they have an 'elite DE) We won't get what he is worth because he's on a contract year and we obviously don't really want to retain him after this season.

I doubt they are even thinking about it right now.

Too little too late IMO. Shoulda done this pre draft. I think we couldve gotten a late first for Kampan. He's a top 5 pass rushing DE in the league.

Replace Ray Edwards with Aaron kampman on that minny front 4. Terrifying. That's what we might have to deal with next year.

I can't remember where it was, but I stumbled upon an article yesterday that was rehashing the Kampman-Peppers rumor. The person was just grasping at straws, and they basically admitted as much. I doubt there's anything to this at all.

I doubt any team will or can afford to trade a starting LT at this point.
Maybe a RT + 3rd or 4th.
Maybe a OLB + a pick depending how good the player is.

IF traded - its most likely gonna be for straight pick(s).
Nothing less than a 2nd and that's a steal.

I prefer keeping & using Kamp as DE in 4-2-5 on passing downs & reserve OLB.

IF Kamp is traded, Chill > Popp or Thompson at OLB. Then Bishop gets PT as #3 ILB.

There has been alot of fans discussing this and what not. I would be shocked if he is actually traded, well very surprised at least.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if he were traded in the offseason, but its not going to happen now.

He's a free agent after this season so we either trade him now, resign him (which won't happen) or he leaves and we get nothing.

TT will probably take the John Hammond approach.

Couldn't we tag him, then trade him?
