Lance Kendricks > Nick Toon.

Pam Ward reminds me so much of one of my high school gym teachers.

OT but the refs in this Iowa/Indiana game are a joke. Every single call is going against Indiana and they just got a completely bogus unnecessary roughness call on a helmet to helmet hit that was a hit with the shoulder.

Pam Ward just called Curt Phillips Chris.

*facepalm*

Why the hell does ESPN still allow her to call games?

The better question is, why are you still watching that game? :)

And they beat Ohio State.

Bragging rights for me for now. Neighbors are Purdue alums.

I was going to make a thread after the first drive joking about Kendricks having a 100 yard rushing day. He came damn close.

I'm sure we'll get a 787 word post that will have little to do with the game.

Yeah. It will probably be about Brees, Orton, and Robbie Hummel.

It's going to explain that a Boilermaker isn't a train.

twirls was right. the term Boilermaker came from the 1920's when Purdue went out and got a bunch of steel mill guys who were making boilers and other iron works to play for their football team. They were very successful, although not very bright. Since they basically were a bunch of guys who made boilers and not really students, they were soon being called Boilermakers by their jealous academic oriented oponents. Their opponents called them boilermakers as kind of a diss because they weren't real students. Since Purdue used to be known as Indiana A&M, I guess they liked the name Boilermaker a lot more than they liked the name aggie.

Ever wonder why there isn't an Indiana A&M or how Purdue got its name? John Purdue was an alum and he hated the name Indiana A&M. So he gave the University a bunch of land and a bunch of money with one stipulation- they rename the school after him. Rather than a building or a hall named after him, he demanded the entire school be renamed after him. It was a lot of money and a lot of land, and the name Indiana A&M did kind of suck. So they said OK, and Purdue University was born.

The train came from the Purdue Reimer club. Since Purdue is known for its engineers and engineering schools, some really smart marketing person took the name engineer and thought it meant train engineer. Thomas the Train would be so proud. the train logo sells a lot more tshirts than hawk eyes, hoosiers, spartains, wildcats and golphers. moms love to buy train tshirts for their toddlers.

but when you're dealt lemons, you make lemonade. On Monday, three highly ranked high school football recruits out of Florida all verbally commited to Purdue. They were all from the same high school and had attended the Purdue / Ohio State game. I guess they felt after watching the UW game, they would start as freshman. and Purdue also received an oral commitment from another 4 star 2012 basketball recruit from Illinois.

it hasn't been a good season for Purdue's football team. maybe their basketball team will rise to the occasion and make it to the final 4.

Only 371 words. You're slipping Reed.
