Wednesday practice report:

* Brandon Chillar is out. Chad Clifton went full.

* Donald Driver (neck), Jermichael Finley, Jordy Nelson, Aaron Rodgers, Jason Spitz and Charles Woodson did not participate.

* Korey Hall (calf) and Derrick Martin (concussion) were limited.

* Rodgers will be looked at tomorrow. Probably won't practice until Friday

* Still taking the week for the line. Mark Tauscher "took a majority of the reps" at right tackle and Chad Clifton "looked healthy" today.

* McCarthy doesn't feel the Packers need to add another quarterback to the roster, although he talked up Brian Brohm. If they did add a QB, it would be Brohm, but that doesn't look likely at this point.

* Allen Barbre is a young developing player. Has done a good job in the run part. Positive and negative plays need to be closer together.

* "No substitute for experience and Clifton and Tauscher have it."

* Spitz has not made any progress. "I know Dr. McKenzie is concerned about it. But hopefully he'll make some more progress soon."

* Hawk will take the majority of the reps in both base and nickel at inside linebacker.

* McCarthy said he's "proud" of Spencer Havner's development.

* McCarthy said if Rodgers wasn't making plays with his feet, then the criticism about him taking sacks would be more warranted. But McCarthy did say Rodgers has some things to work on.

* There were "a number of people spoken to Monday." We need to learn from this experience. Yes, our penalties are too high, especially those types of penalties.

* Probably not his week for Finley but he is getting better.

* "I think Jeremy (Kapinos) could do a better job. He knows that."

Will be there in person, along with 2 of my sons to watch the Packers in Tampa! I DO NOT EXPECT TO SEE A LOSS!!!! Does anyone know of any good Packers Sports Bars in Tampa?

"No substitute for experience"??? That's definitely a change in philosophy for a GM/Coach tandem that has never really seemed concerned about the subject. Am I alone in thinking that Lang has played better than Clifton this year? He should at least be starting on the right side or pushing one of the guards for playing time.

I agree, Lang should be starting at one of the tackle spots for the rest of the year. Odds are he'll be one of our long term starting tackles. It's also likely that neither Tausher or Clifton will be on the team next year. Lang has been at least as good as Clifton if not better and I have to imagine he is a better option than Tausher is at this point.

Typical MM,

Clifton looks bad and commits multiple penalties then gets hurt,Lang comes in to replace him and plays great but then Clifton gets to start over Lang despite Lang being the better player because ''there is no substitute for experience''.

MM is starting to make Ray Rhodes look like Vince Lombardi.

Will be interesting to see how Tauscher does, though the Bucs might not be the best indicator.

I'm getting real tired of MM's response to the penalties, it's always "we're going to fix it". Well this problem has continued from the beginning of last year and doesn't seem like it's going to stop any time soon.

I dont even want to watch this game. I want to see this team beat another legitimate team before i get my hopes up again

I wouldn't go that far and say Lang played great. He gave up a couple of sacks that were his fault and a couple other pressures. Granted, he wasn't whipped either and for a rookie his performance had some promising aspects. I don't know the health level of Clifton, but if he is healthy, without question i'd start him at LT. Now RT is another story. I really question if Lang has the body type and skillset to become a full time starting LT in the NFL, but he could become our long term solution at RT and i'd be fine with getting him ready there. If Lang can become the RT of the future, a duo on that side of Sitton/Lang could develop into a promising young strong aggressive right side of the line both in the passing game and running game.

Agreed totally. Coaches should have seen this in camp. Its not like Barbre or Breno were wowing anyone. I hate our coaches - they're like - we like what we did with him in camp. Sure Missing the boat on your best RT prospect and wasting his camp development time at G when he should have bee getting reps at RT - especially early when Breno was still out recovering.

Problem now is with no decent back up LT - IF (when) Chad goes down again who plays LT?
Pretty tough on rookie to be playing/practicing RT then switch and be effective. But I guess that's what he's already done going from G to LT.

This kind of has the feel of the Detroit game. Coming off bad loss to Vikings, its a situation where if the Packers play strong, its a they should've b/c its the Bucs. If they don't and still win, people will be p*ssed. If they lose, lol, well its gonna get REAL ugly. But really a win isn't going to get people too excited. I just hope to get a bounce back win and get the rust off of guys like Tauscher, Clifton, etc. A loss and the season is done, period point blank. A win could get some positive momentum into a few home NFC games.

The Dallas game next week is a key. Dallas is a good, but not great, team. And there is no way we should lose to them at home if we think we are a playoff team.

Im too engaged in my Brandon Jennings love fest right now to care about a game like this. I suppose I'll have it on the tv though. The bucs are bad enough where I'd be comfortable starting flynn to ensure rodgers health versus Dallas.

It is a little funny. We could go 10-6 and get into the playoffs and people would be pissy about it.

And just to be clear, I'm not saying I feel much differently. There were weird expectations this year with Brent in Minny and our great preseason. A WC birth would feel like a letdown.
