I'm watching old-man Favre eat up the Bears. Looks like 1996.

I know we are all expecting him to get tired and start throwing picks. But it isn't happening yet.

My question for you guys is how will you feel if he wins MVP?

Or the Super Bowl?

Will you be frustrated with Favre or Ted Thompson and not want it to happen? Or will you roll over and enjoy it with him, knowing he's possibly going for a legacy as the greatest QB of all time?

Thoughts?

MVP I could care less about, good for him individually. If the Vikings end their SB drought with him, then my hate of him will only increase. The Vikings never having won a SB is one of the greatest things in sports.

They won't win the SB

I also don't care about the MVP award.

I'll be passionately rooting against the Vikings in the playoffs just like I have been every game this season. If they end up winning the SB, I will be as bummed as I possibly could be over a game that didn't involve a team I am a fan of.

I dislike Favre and the Vikings are my least favorite team in professional sports. I still think he is one of the most overrated QB's of the last 20 years. Will this year weaken my argument? It is looking like it might but, if he doesn't win a SB this year, he still only has one SB victory (and he wasn't the MVP in the game) and a career which includes many mediocre seasons. He has been very, very impressive this year but so far not enough for me to revise my opinion of his career.

Statistically, the best two QB's this year have probably been Favre and Rodgers. Who would have guessed?

It’s a very complicated set of circumstances which cause me mixed reaction and feelings.

Pack made its decision – for good or bad – to move on – so Brett had right to play with anyone he wanted. Of course Vikes were best fit. We see that self evident.

TT and Brett disagreed about how to approach the team roster.
Brett wanted some vet help for another SB push. To me that was valid. Sure it would have capped us out but it could have given us a realistic shot at another SB.
TT wanted to rebuild young and maximize cap space. To me that was valid. Aaron is proof that it was OK. And we are in great salary situation.
Either route was valid - but incompatable. Too bad they disagreed.
TT was GM and had the right to follow his vision.
Brett as a player had the talent and competitive urge to win.

So Brett is doing his thing. Unfortunately its with the Vikes. That hurts.
But how many of us would really pass an opportunity for great success w/ a competitor to our current company who doesn’t really want us and we disagree with just b/c it would upset our former company’s customers. Few if any if your honest.

My only negative is how Brett acted like an ass by his indecision and manipulation. That will always dull his luster for me. Some of his good ole boy is an act.

BUT still he did great things for Pack.
Gave me tons of enjoyment and pride while with us.

He’s just doing what he wanted to - compete with a vet roster. As much as it sux its with Vikes, I cannot blame him.

IF he wins another SB and gets another MVP, his status as a top 5 all time QB is cemented and well earned.

I am not rooting against him personally. I am rooting against the Vikes. I HATE the Vikes. I don’t want them to win a SB! So no SB for Vikes and Brett.

If they do win the SB I will be very bummed but not mad at Brett.

TT? I don’t condemn him for Brett. I judge TT on his wins and playoffs (or lack thereof).

If Favre is able to do either or both I tip my cap to him, but with that said Aaron Rodgers is my boy!!

I'll be mad, but because he's a Viking. If he was playing for a team other than our rival he could win both and I wouldn't care. You never want to see your rival succeed.

I could deal with MVP I guess. Winning a ring, it just makes me cringe. Basically for me, I thought he'd play for the Jets, Vikings, and then always be remembered as a Packer and his legacy would be green/gold. I think if he wins a ring, that wouldn't be the case as much. Much of his story would include that MVP season with the Vikings that helped win that franchise their first Super Bowl. It would disgust me actually.

I've been waiting for the collapse, but its yet to happen. I don't know... Still alot of season left.

Favre himself would have had to played darn good ball for that to happen. I can handle tipping my cap to the guy. I enjoyed him here and saw far too many players/fans do the same while he was here for far too long not to. Like it now or not, he's the MJ of football. It's good when legends get to ride off into the sunset with a win. I'd hate what he did to get there, but he's playing out of his mind right now.

Realistically, take out the messy divorce, its been best case scenario for both parties involved. The Packers got their QB of the future on the field and he is playing at a high level. All in all, life after Favre has gone okay as they are potentially a playoff team this year. Many teams experience a huge downfall after legend QB's. Overall I'd say the Packers future is bright, especially at QB.

And Favre got to go to a perfect situation with the Vikings and has a legit shot at the Super Bowl.

If Favre stays with the Packers, Rodgers probably doesn't sign an extension and would walk when a free agent. I really don't think Favre would be having the year he is having this year last year or this year if still with the Packers. Its obvious the warm climate of the dome benefits him and he has ALL of the weapons he needs. Plus he needs great protection, which he has in MN and wouldn't here.

So IMO its been best case for both parties involved.

I'd like to preface this post by stating that right now I hate Favre, the Vikings, and this whole scenario that's playing out right now. Before I get into my thoughts, I want to preface this with a few statements:

1. I believe that (and it was pretty clear to the rest of the NFL) when Favre made the decision to un-retire with GB last year, then retire from the Jets, then un-retire again, he did so with the sole purpose of playing for MIN.

On the MVP: If he wins it, good for him, because he wasn't going to win another one playing for Green Bay. The only reason he's in the position to win that award is because he's playing with a chip on his shoulder (kinda like when he was traded to GB) and actually managing games well - two things he wasn't ever going to do again in GB.

On the Super Bowl: Right now the Queens are the 3rd/4th best team in the league. I do believe that if they're going to win a Super Bowl, this is their year.

If Favre wins a Super Bowl with the Vikings, I'll be unbelievably pissed, but at the end of the day, good for him. The reality is, Favre had his chance to win another Super Bowl with us, and when he messed it up, he jumped ship to a "better" team.

At the end of the day, the reality is, Favre wasn't going to do either of these things with us. I wish more people talked about or understood this: It wasn't because of TT, or Mike McCarthy, or the talent on our team that he couldn't do these things here, it was because of Brett Favre.

I'm blown away by what Favre is doing, it seems unprecedented if he continues to play this well all season. Off the top of my head i'm trying to think of another 40 year old professional athlete that won an MVP or even came close to winning one and i'm drawing a blank?

What Brett is doing just isn't supposed to happen, especially in a tough violent sport like football which is largely a young man game. He is on pace to have the best season of his career at age 40 and we are talking about a career that includes three MVP's. He leads the league in passer rating and has a 24/3 TD/INT ratio. That's insane. He just missed throwing for 400 yard today. All at age 40. It's not flukey either. In the two games against us and today, he was throwing laser beams all over the place right on target. He is reading defenses like a master. Blitz, he sees it coming pre-snap and gets rid of the ball quick. Play coverage, he throws a laser beam into holes in zones. Unbelievable.

I hate that he's doing this with the Queens, but i have to give the guy credit because we may never see another 40 year old professional athlete play at this level again. Plus, Favre looks like he could still play another year or two if he wants at a quality level.

Its sad but apparently hes been putting in a lot of time studying film. The last time he did that was in 07 and he had a great season. If only he had done this a few more times in his career, him and the pack might just have more than 1 championship during his tenure

Pick any of the other teams and I might even get a kick out of him doing well. Probably not, but the possibility exists.

Hell he could be a Bear and while I wouldn't be thrilled I wouldn't care nearly as much.

It's the fact that he's a **** Viking that disgusts me to no end.

I would be pissed at both Favre and Thompson. How could Thompson be so wrong on the talent Favre still had and pissed at Favre for being able to play like this now, yet he looked like an old man 2 years ago. Can you name a player impacted by emotions as much as Favre?

It looks like he was right. He doesn't need training camp, but he does need talent around him. He got TT and MM paid, and they turned their backs on him. I'm happy for Favre.

The moral of the story is that some individuals are more important than 'the team' and those individuals shouldn't be pushed out before their time.
