McCarthy speaks about Thanksgiving win over Lions
By Greg A. Bedard of the Journal Sentinel
Nov. 30, 2009 12:07 p.m.
Green Bay - Coach Mike McCarthy will speak at 12:15 p.m. about the win over the Lions and the upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Packers don't practice until Tuesday. They are off Wednesday and then resume preparations on Thursday.
* We really like where we are as a football team.
* Chad Clifton may miss some practice time this week. He's getting tested.
* "I have confidence in Mason Crosby...I thought as a whole against Detroit, our special teams needs to play more confident."
* McCarthy reiterated his decision to pass on the long field goal had more to do with the offense and the want for more points.
* Team will work on Baltimore normal down and distance, and then correct Detroit. Practice will be padded.
* Clifton is the only injury concern. Everyone else should be back at practice on Tuesday.
* On defense being No. 1 in the league yards allowed: "We wanted to generate more productivity for some players and I think we've done that. Statistics are a barometer. It gives you something to look at, positively and negatively. I think our defense is definitely on the right pace."
* Brad Jones will continues as the LOLB starter. I like the mix we had with Brady Poppinga and Jeremy Thompson.
* "Confidence is the key, to me, to winning the National Football League. You can't buy real confidence."
* "Running the football, stopping the run and practicing outside (with a smirk) are important this time of year. That will be our focus."
* Special teams coverage units have played at a high level. It's the one or two that really affect the stats.
* On Mark Tauscher: "I think Mark's been steady, been consistent. I think he's ready to go a full game now." Positive that the same five have started the past two games. We've been very productive moving the ball on offense of late.
* "I think Mark definitely brings confidence, experience."
That's it for now. @TomSilverstein may have some more later on.

MM might have confidence in Crosby, but I sure as hell don't.

Was it Bedard the other day who said all of Crosby's misses are from the right hash? We're going to need a kicker platoon...

Re: Ravens/Packers week (pre-game)
Crosby has one more year left on his deal and is seeking an extension. No way I give it to him now. This will be a good test. Baltimore is right in the thick of the AFC wildcard race.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The curse of jerrod's jumper inhabits Joe Flacco, turning all of his throws into wounded ducks. Packers pick him off 29 times in a 147-0 rout. Jerrod is found dead the next morning as the result of a Ray Lewis driveby.

That was a heck of a team. I believe we were sporting superstars of Packers lore such as Samkon Gado and Ahmad Carrol.

i'll respond to that with 2 words:
Kyle Boller

edit: that was a crappy year for both teams, as is this one...

Re: Ravens/Packers week (pre-game)
Their receivers aren't anything special. Only guy most people even know is Derrick Mason (catch more TD's damn it, useless on my fantasy team). Todd Heap is still a weapon but he's no Vernon Davis or Jason Witten.
Obviously their best offensive weapon as seen Sunday Night is Rice. Will be interesting to see who covers him on passing plays.
From a defensive standpoint I think the Packers will do fine. Offensively we all know how hot and cold they are. I'd like to see this team finish drives early and continue the good offensive line play.

Re: Ravens/Packers week (pre-game)
apparently there was some locker room anger about flacco throwing to mason way more often than anyone else, so he'll probably try to spread it around more than he has been.

Re: Ravens/Packers week (pre-game)
I'm excited about this game, which probably doesn't bode well seeing how MM usually lays an egg or five in big games.
Monday can't come soon enough.

Re: Ravens/Packers week (pre-game)
I'm expecting a pretty good coaching performance from MM and the rest of the coaches (no I didn't forget the green font). The coaching staff will have had almost a bye week's worth of preparation time. Hopefully it show next Monday, a win would be HUGE.

Just listened to the Jim Rome Podcast. Aaron Rodgers was on the show today so hopefully the Packers get some Jungle Karma.

#1 Defense and #6 Offense. The talent is there, MM just needs to know how to utilize it.

Agreed.
If we don't make the playoffs this season it is on MM.
