Here is a list of potential free agents for next year. Who do you think we should go after?

A lot of the better ones on that list probably won't even ever hit free agency if 2010 is uncapped, which it probably will be. If they do, however, I'd go after Eric Winston or Marcus McNeill, but we probably won't. It'd be nice to pick up a corner, but I doubt we do that, either. If he looks like he's getting healthy, I'd take a chance on Leon Washington for cheap.

But if it is uncapped. that also allows teams to dump bad contracts without penalties, which might mean some talented players hit the market who otherwise would not have. Reggie Bush, for example, will probably be released.

I think Chester Taylor would be a decent pick up.

That list is based on having a cap. If it's uncapped it goes from 4 years to 6 for being an UFA. Guys like Nick Collins would be restricted.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

for the right price I agree.

FAs don't excite me much in the upcoming probable uncapped off season.

On O
Maybe sign FA RB Chester as suggested.
Since FA LTs of quality are few I'd try to trade for young vet (even overpay) or trade up in draft.
Offer 2010 1st & 2nd & 2011 3rd and Hawk or Bishop for a guy like Joe Thomas or someone's very high 1st rnd pick to draft LT.
Draft another OT and a G with #4 & #7.
Probably let Chad walk.
Keep tausch.

Then on D..
I hope to God Pickett & Chillar are resigned...then
Maybe a lower level FA S to be top S backup - not sure who.
Maybe a lower level FA OLB to be top backup if Popp is cut - not sure who.
Draft
CB #3
S #5
LB #6

Marcus Mcneil or Logan Mankins. We need to sign an offensive linemen. Sign one, draft one. Free agent running backs are foolish.

IF uncapped I think McNeil is NOT a FA ala Nick Collins.

Yep, and even with Mankins, I don't think we're desperate for interior linemen. I hope we let Colledge walk and allow TJ Lang to settle in at left guard, where I think he'll upgrade the running game and be a wash at worst in pass protection.

I agree Lang at LG is best. However if we can snag a good LG somehow (after priority LT) then I could see Lang at RT.

We clearly need a LT
and also
either a RT or LG whichever we can get and Lang can play the other IMO.

We might be able to squeak one more year out of Tauscher but we still need a RT prospect to backup and develop.

Article by McGinn in todays paper about how it's a bad year for OL in the draft. We'll need to sign a FA if possible to solidify the line.

If McNeill is in fact a FA, throw a ton of money at him. Front load the deal. I think hes a huge upgrade over Clifton in the ZBS.

However, I quickly forgot that this is Ted we're dealing with so I imagine we take a pair of T's in the fourth and fifth round, and one of which will be our starting LT by default.

I haven't been looking at many mock drafts, but this one has 6 OTs going in the first round. That makes it seem like there is a decent amount of oline talent in this year's draft...

http://walterfootball.com/draft2010.php

Russell Okung - OSU
Bruce Campbell - Maryland (I want this guy just because of his name)
Charles Brown - USC
Brian Buluga - Iowa
Anthony Davis - Rutgers
Joesph Barksdale - LSU

I know nothing about these guys, but these are the OTs they have going in the 1st. They have Taylor Mays going late 1st (after our pick actually), would anybody else be interested in grabbing him? I know he has had a down year, but I still think he could be a stud. We have absolutely no depth at safety so it is a position of need.

Any OL help is a must. Guys are getting old and losing it. Picking up a guy like Taylor would be nice but I would'nt give him a big deal. He's getting up there in age and never really took on a full season during his carrer. On the other hand getting Ronnie Brown, it wont happen, but would do wonders for the kind of offense the Packers run. A guy out the backfield on every down would add another dimenion to this offense.

Get a DL and a yound DB that has some upside...

I would love to bring in Seymour. Seymour/Raji/Jenkins would be pretty sick.

The T I go for is Marcus McNeill. Maybe give Carlos Rogers a look at CB.

First - its almost certain to be uncapped year and McNeil will be unnavailable.

Second - if available, McNeil will attract numerous offers. TT will not compete. Nor should he for McNeil.

Third - if available, McNeil is not great. Was very good rookie year then injuries. He may regain form but injuries are a concern with him.

I thought this right away. The Vikes always sign ex-Packers, but have we signed an ex-Vike since Gilbert Brown?
