Jolly indicted on drug charges again

Green Bay - Green Bay Packers defensive end Johnny Jolly was again indicted Tuesday by a Harris County (Texas) grand jury for possessing large amounts codeine, according to Donna Hawkins, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's office.

Hawkins said Jolly "will be given an opportunity to turn himself to authorities and his initial court appearance will be set."

Jolly had been indicted in Oct. 2008 but the charges were dropped in July when the Houston Police Department obtained new equipment to test codeine in evidence. After employees were trained on the new equipment, the cases could move forward.

Jolly was arrested in July 2008 for possessing at least 200 grams of codeine.

So what does this mean for his status this season?

I'm certain he won't be back next year because of this issue, but he has played well this season.

Wow, that's ridiculous that they indicted him, dropped it to change equipment, then re-indicted him as he makes a playoff push with his team.

Anyway, Jolly likes to Sip on the Sizzurp.

He was aware that the charges would be reinstated so it's no surprise. Regardless of if he gets jail time (if convicted) he'll likely be suspended. Too bad, he has played well, I like the guy.

This is unfortunate. Jolly is having a great season and it's really hard not to root for him with the kind of passion he plays with. Unfortunately he's one of those lovable knuckleheads that makes poor decisions from time to time (for instance this situation, or headbutting Chester Taylor)

Definitely re-sign pickett and now probably look for a 3/4 DE in the middle rounds of the draft.

No need. Harrell will be back next season.

Hell, I'd bring Pickett back and grab the best defensive lineman available in the first. That's going to be the position of strength in April.
