Sporting News: A-Rodg is the NFL player of the next decade

NFL: The case for Aaron Rodgers
His age in 2019: 36
His team: The Packers. They said so-long to Brett Favre to make room for Rodgers. He is their franchise guy.
Player of the Decade credentials: He has great touch, accuracy and mobility and gets better every year. And unlike running backs, quarterbacks play at a high level well into their 30s. G.M. Ted Thompson drafts well, and coach Mike McCarthy is solid. The Packers and Rodgers should have a nice run.

Aaron Rodgers, mentioned in the same company with LeBron James, Joe Mauer and Alex Ovechkin.

The Packers were very careful w/ how they brought him along, when he became the starter, there was no real competition behind him, they've ensured that he can play within an offense and doesn't have to do everything himself, I am just worried that projections like this kind of fly against how careful we've been with him...
...Also, the be player of the decade, I think you have to have a magnetic personality, thankfully, in my opinion, Rodgers doesn't. He is a team guy who isn't in it for personal glory, like James or Ovechkin...

I'd love to see A-Rodg lead us to a Super Bowl with Favre still in the league...man, that would be freakin' awesome.

Also, I could see this happening. Rodgers is a stud.

In response to my own stupid ass post...
This is obviously going to be Nick Toon.
Rodgers could finish in second though.

Is there a team in the NFL that has a better young core than the Packers? Rodgers, Matthews, Finley, Jennings, Collins, Raji, Grant, etc. I am trying to think of a team that has a better core of young talent and I can't come up with one. Most of the elite teams in the league are anchored by older veterans. While we have some older veterans like Woodson, Driver, etc., a lot of our best talent hasn't even hit their prime yet.

I can't think of another team that is as young and as good as us, set up to be good for years.
We really need to find a couple young cornerback studs because Woodson and Harris aren't going to be around forever.

I remember the year the Packers drafted Fred Vinson, Antwaan Edwards and Mike Mckenzie and just hoped that 2 would work out. Edwards was around for a while and MM was a stud. We need to do that again. If this team has one hole on defense, it is depth and
quality youth in the defensive backfield. Perhaps this could also be addressed through free agency, but you never know with Ted.
On the offensive side, they need to add what we've all been clamoring for, some quality, single position offensive lineman. I'd also like to see us add one or two weapons... a home run back and a speedy wideout. That said, at several of the most important positions, we are set... when you think about it, it is really rather impressive considering the mess that Sherman left this team in...

*I believe he netted all-time Packers rushing leader, Ahman Green...

I have to admit it is refreshing that people around here seem intelligent about it. I have some family members who are long time Packers fans, I mean an Uncle/my dad who are both in their 50s and they both want TT gone and I just can't understand it. They are bigger Brett fans than Packers fans. I could understand someone in my generation who for nearly all their life all they saw was Favre but I don't get the old timers that feel that way.
I remember on Thanksgiving I was over at said uncle's house and Aaron threw a 60 yard or so bomb to Driver and made a big gain, was a beautiful pass and my uncle's response was "Favre would have hit him in stride for a touch down" I kind of laughed as I argued that Rodgers arm for deep balls was every bit as strong as Favre's but he was insistent that Favre would have hit him in stride for a touch down and that he could throw it 100 yards and hit the WR in stride. It drives me nuts all these people who don't look at the facts and reality of things and are so blinded by their pure hate at TT for getting rid of Favre when clearly with hindsight it was a brilliant move.

I am mixed on Thompson... He is obviously a great evaluator of talent. If you have any doubt, just look back at his draft classes and some of the guys he grabbed in late rounds. But some of his decisions just seem out of nowhere, like when he cut Rouse, who was obviously a project, after one bad game and brought in a free agent. I liked Rouse and thought that he was going to amount to something eventually, and I was pretty bummed to see him go.

It was just over 70 yards but whos counting. "Favre Zealots" are pathetic. I know a chick who had jets gear last year and now is sporting queens gear.
