Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
Just predicted it on NBC News. No relevance, just thought it was interesting.
Don't know if I like all the hype right now (all 10 ESPN guys picking us to beat Zona), but whatever.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
I view the NFC as wide open.
The AFC I really think it comes down to Colts vs Chargers and I could see it going either way but I give the edge to the Chargers.
I don't mind getting the hype and love for the Packers as long as the players don't let it go to their head which I don't think they will, we have a good balance of mature young players mixed in with a few savvy veterans. I'm sure at this point in this point in their careers guys like Driver and Woodson would love nothing more than to win a super bowl and they will step up as leaders in the locker room to calm the younger guys. Going to be an exciting month of football with a lot of good games. I don't remember a playoff season where it was this wide open.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
So Dungy goes from saying the Packers will beat the Cardinals during SNF pregame, to saying the Cardinals will beat the Packers at halftime of SNF, to saying the Packers will make it to the Super Bowl.

I hate the hype. Hate the action in Vegas too (it's now at 0). I can't find a single *expert* taking the Cards in this one.
This to me screams let-down.

Only guys I've heard to pick the Cardinals are Colin Cowherd and Sal Palintonio. Colin basically said he has no idea who is going to win (in any of the games this weekend) and said that he expects the Cardinals to barely win. Mike and Mike both picked the Packers this morning.

I have a huge fear of overconfidence in this one. Which should never happen in the playoffs. But I'm afraid of it, big time.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I agree, it has gotten to the point where it's Arizona vs the world mentality and that will motivate them for sure.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
A good statistic for the Packers in this game is that Arizona is the only team in the playoffs with a negative turn over ratio. Packers are 2nd in the league in turn over ratio. So hopefully we dominate the turnover battle which would likely lead to a win.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
It seems like Adam Schefter may even be coming around on the Packers. His preseason pick for the Super Bowl was San Diego and Green Bay, but last week he said the Packers are the only team in the NFC that he couldn't see making it to the super bowl (because of their o-line).
But now he has this piece on the Packers in his latest article...
Edit: Didn't see this at first, from the same Schefter article...
But now he has this piece on the Packers in his latest article...
What once was Green Bay's biggest weakness has shown noticeable signs of improvement. An offensive line that was routinely beaten on Sundays and criticized on Mondays early in the season actually has gotten better throughout the season. And maybe it has to do with consistency. Through the first nine games this season in which they allowed 41 sacks, the Packers started six different offensive lines. Over the past seven games in which they have allowed only nine sacks, the Packers have started the same offensive line -- left tackle Chad Clifton, left guard Daryn Colledge, center Scott Wells, right guard Josh Sitton and right tackle Mark Tauscher.
This is the group that, against the Steelers in Pittsburgh, allowed Rodgers to be sacked only once. It also has helped that Packers running back Brandon Jackson has been adept at helping pick up the blitz. Green Bay has the league's No. 6 offense, No. 2 defense, and no team in the league has been as balanced as the Packers. If their improved offensive line gives Rodgers time, he can help them advance all the way to the Super Bowl.
Edit: Didn't see this at first, from the same Schefter article...
Upset of the week: Green Bay over Arizona. Cardinals are a tough out, but the Packers have found their groove.

Yep I'm scared to death about this game. Hopefully this team learned from it's false over-confidence coming out of preseason.

Schefter makes a good point about Brandon Jackson. Casual observers don't realize just how good he's been the past couple of weeks as a 3rd down back. His blitz pickups have been fantastic and he's looked really shifty with the ball in his hands.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
No way the Colts make the superbowl. Not with the way they finished the season. It's going to be difficult for the starters to shake off their rust after resting for two games then having a bye week. I'm sure they will win the Divisional game but I don't see them getting in a good enough groove to beat the Chargers in the championship game.
As for the Packers, I can see it happening. I'm not making any predictions, mainly because of how unpredictable the NFC side of the playoffs is this year, but I wouldn't be utterly shocked if they made it. They are playing well enough, and they are beginning to look like the championship caliber team that we thought they were in the preseason. The Cowboys are hot, but I don't think they are hotter than we are right now. 7-1 and 3 seconds away from 8-0 in your last 8 games is pretty damn good. And I am one of the people who is really, really looking forward to the potential to get revenge against Favre in the next round.

I agree, and I think the only team that I will be shocked if they get to the Super Bowl through the NFC is the Cardinals. I think last year's run has given them a false sense of confidence. I get the sense that a lot of those guys feel like they can just flip the switch like they did last year and it's all going to click.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
Teams that would surprise me if they made the Super Bowl are Cardinals, Jets, Bengals, and Ravens. I could see any of the other teams making it. The NFC is a pretty even playing field, the AFC the Colts have been good and are good I don't see them making it but it wouldn't surprise me, the Chargers are my choice to make it and you can never count out the Pats and Belichick.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
I'll count out the Pats. Their defense is terrible and not having Welker is going to hurt them a lot offensively.
Actually, now that I think of it, the only team I do like in the AFC is the Chargers. I think the Colts really shot themselves in the foot with how they handled the last couple of weeks and the rest of the conference is a cesspool of mediocrity.

Re: Dungy: Colts/Packers Super Bowl
Oh yeah I completely forgot about the Welker injury last week. I'm still half asleep after a late night/exhausting Bucks game last night
So yeah make that Colts and Chargers in the AFC but like you I REALLY like the Chargers.
I don't even think the Colts won't make it because of resting the last two weeks, I look at it more that the Chargers are just a better team, they have been rolling winning their last 11 and mostly in dominant fashion.
I think the hottest teams going into the playoffs are Chargers in the AFC and the Packers in the NFC, just look at their records in the second half to verify it.

I'm kind of cheering for the Chargers to make the Super Bowl because Tomlinson deserves it.
