This would be classic Brett. Him telling Minnesota he's done. They go out and get McNabb. Brett tells them he wants to come back halfway through pre-season.

This is a random and not so random but being a die hard Packer fan one can always hope and say whouldn't that be great!!!

I am confused by this, yet, I am wondering about Childress saying there is no timetable. Of course there is, there has to be, especially if they are planning on moving forward with this McNabb thing, they can't wait forever. The question is, if this happens, what would the Vikes tell Favre? I almost assume they'd just take him back and try to move McNabb to a different team. With Brett, any scenario is in play...

Even Favre couldnt be dumb enough to ask for a return if the VIkes went out and traded for Donovan after being told he was retired. Any trade with Donovan however probably wouldn't happen unitl right before training camp for this very reason.

i'd love to see it though.

Balla... Brett lives for moments like this... He would have no problem telling them he would want to return after them bringing in McNabb or anyone else for that matter...

If I had a dollar for every time I thought Favre wouldn't be stupid enough to do something but he did anyway, I'd be rich. Nothing would surprise me with this guy...

I think the Packers should start talking smack about him, which will get him to come back for sure. I don't think we lose to them twice again next year. I'd love to get another crack at Favre...

I don't see the Queens going out and making a move for McNabb. I think Chili-dog is still very high on Jackson as their plan B if Favre doesn't come back.

Favre's coming back next year in my opinion. I see no reason for him to hang it up, as he's still one of the top qb's in the game.

With that said, i'd love for Favre to tell MN he's retired, just so they can go through this **** again...and hopefully trade for McNabb.

I'd prefer he just wait until like May, then retire (for good) and leave the Queens with Rosenfels and Jackson as QB's.

Yeah, since there is no other motive for Favre that drove his last few retirements so I expect him to help the Queens out.

Agree or disagree, the way he went about his wishy-washy **** was because A. he either wanted out or his way in Green Bay and B. once it wasn't going that way, he held them hostage from his house in Mississippi to back them into a corner of having to dump him.

The Jets retirement was laughable. He should have written on his retirement statement p.s. when you take me off the roster, I am asking you to do this because I want to play for the Queens. Then he pretended to be uncertain so he could skip training camp with the Queens.

Now he has nowhere to go. We have a better quarterback considering Brent will be 41 and he hates Ted so he's not coming back here obviously. Chilly coddled him all year and the Queens like making brash moves with their roster like he wanted Ted to do so it is perfect there for him.

So he is either going to retire soon so they can figure out their QB situation or he's going to say he's playing and stick to it.

He got what he had wanted since 2005, a spot on the Vikings roster, so he has no one else to **** with. So he won't be so "indecisive" because he has no one to use as a stepping stone anymore.

I think this is underselling the beating he took against the Saints. I think they've really given other teams a blueprint (and more importantly, permission) to beat up on the old man. Favre doesn't want to take another beating like that, let alone 16+. I think he'll hang it up...

At first i dismissed the beating factor, but now i think it could play some factor. Favre got hit very hard and more often in a game than i can remember another QB getting hit. I'm sure through history other QB's have been battered like that, i just don't recall it off the top of my head.

I'm getting closer to Brett's current age and can see how my body doesn't recover from anything like in my early 20's. Pains hurt more, i stay sick longer, and twisting say an ankle takes longer to heal. I can't even imagine what my body would feel like if i got beat up like he did on Sunday. Mix in that he has to know that it's often very hard for a team to get back to that type of shot at a Super Bowl the following year for a variety of reasons, i'd put it about 60/40 that he doesn't play.

I hope he doesn't because even at age 41, i think he'd clearly make the Vikes a bigger division title threat than Tavaris Jackson would. I also hope that McNabb doesn't end up in Minnesota either.

WNSR (via ProFootballTalk) - Thom Abraham of WNSR in Nashville interviewed former Falcons coach Jerry Glanville, who defended the decision to trade Brett Favre in blunt terms.

"I had to get him out of Atlanta. I could not sober him up," Glanville said. "I sent him to a city where at 9:00 at night the only thing that's open is Chili Joes. You can get it two ways, with or without onions. And that's what made Brett Favre make a comeback was going to a town that closed down. If I would have traded him to New York, nobody to this day would have known who Brett Favre ever was."

Favre has been candid regarding his issues with alcohol and painkillers, which he eventually beat several years ago.

Another nice knock on Green Bay/Wisconsin -- sure it was for effect though. He does realize every city/village in Wisconsin has a 4 or 5 to 1 bar/gas station ratio, right?

Not a real surprise as Favre's drinking was well known. However as far as I know, Glanville has always kind of kept quiet on Favre and wouldn't get into the details of why he traded him. I know in one of Favre's books, I believe "For the Record", Glanville declined to get into specifics, but that book is also over 10 years old.

That was my first thought, too. Glanville thought he could sober him up by sending him to......Wisconsin? I guess he isn't aware that the only thing to do in 98% of the towns is drink.

And yeah, Glanville is making excuses. Wolf pursued Favre, Glanville didnt send him to GB to sober him up

haha. Sounds like Glanville is kindof taking credit for Favre's career
