Packers release Montgomery, Giordano

Green Bay - The Packers announced they have released defensive end Michael Montgomery and safety Matt Giordano.

Montgomery, a sixth-round pick in 2005, was never a good fit for the 3-4 defense. He was inactive seven times, including the playoff loss to Arizona, last season.

According to Tom Silverstein, Montgomery was due $1.325 million in base salary, and a $200,000 roster bonus

Giordano was brought in as an emergency safety and special teams player last year when the Packers went through injury problems at the position. He was active for six of the 15 games (including playoffs) when he was on the roster.

Not sure if this deserved its own thread or not, but regardless, roster moves.

Good!

Montgomery has been a garbage DE the whole time. No longer any good on ST.
