Texans Week One - @ Chargers MONDAY NIGHT!

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Fri Sep 6, 2013 1:27 am

Texans kick off the season at San Diego to play the Chargers on Monday Night Football at 9:20 PM...wait, what? Oy vey - late game to kick off the season! Still, it's the NFL, it's the Texans and I'll put up with a groggy day at work on Tuesday to support our boys down on Kirby!

The Texans enter the game with double threats at both Runningback (Foster/Tate) and in a nice change of pace at Wide Receiver (Andre, the Great/DeRookie). We also are STACKED at backup QB with Kubes naming TJ Yates as the primary backup over Keenum.

The defense is led by the face of the Houston Texans and star of the FXX series, "The League," JJ Watt. Rejoining him will be the likes of Danieel Manning, Jonathan Joseph and the Once & Future Texan, Brian Cushing, fresh off of his contract extension.

Hopefully Ed Reed will be joining the team soon, but until then let's see what some of the younger guys can do.

Leading the team is Matt Schaub who has plenty of weapons surrounding him, but a few questions on the O-Line.

Not in this weeks game is Antonio Smith, who got in trouble with the NFL for trying to swat a fly off of an opposing player's face using the first thing that he could get his hands on. The NFL takes any potential animal cruelty issues seriously since the whole Vick thing went down. I'm thankful that Smith only got one game for that incident because this team needs him.

There is no such thing as an unimportant week, and there is no such thing as an unimportant game. The Texans are starting the season on the road and are now one of those teams that other NFL teams really prepare for before going up against them. They've got their work cut out for them late Monday night.

Late, late, late Monday night...but hey! At least we know that everyone in Houston will be able to watch the Texans!

(looking at you, Astros, Rockets & Comcast...)

GO TEXANS!!!

The NFL has a contract with CBS and Fox so that local affiliates will broadcast NFL games on Sunday. NBC has Sunday night and Thursday night rights. ESPN has Monday Night Football. The point is no NFL franchise is permitted to do some hoe ass move like the Rockets pulled then play the victims when viewership is down and fans are complaining. Besides, this is football in Houston. If the Texans were allowed to do something like that and did the National Guard would have to be called in.

I say win this game but I really am not seeing much happening for the texans again. Our defense is overrated and Joseph has looked bad all preseason. This is going to be hard game. With our only other pass rusher out for this game it is going to be a pain

Tough opening game for Houston, but I like the defense to keep the Chargers in check. Here's hoping Schaub is ready to go to the next level.

Texans offense should simply be able to out score San Diego.

Seriously this teams defense is overrated. And Reed is not going to save it. Only two players that can rush passer. A head coach that supposedly a offensive guru and that has a play menu that puts all restaurants to shame but only seemingly only uses a third of it. Predictable is not good and you run the same plays game in game out they will catch of. Arrogance or whatever Kuback needs to change it up.

Hard to say anything negative about Schaub today: 34/45 346 yards 3/1

If anything, Foster looked rusty but Tate looked good. I'm glad Cierre Wood is in reserve.

I don't know why people think Shuab is a bad quarterback , he's better than our back ups . I mean he's our starter for a reason.

One Schaub is a average to above average Qb. Two our backups are nothing special which why they are backups.

Good win. Surprised we were so far but even more surprised we came back and won. Need the defense outside of JJ Watt to create some sort of pass rush.

Getting Smith back next week should help. Just in time to destroy the evil Titans.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.
