This guy could be a good addition. There were a few better options out there, like Garcia, Leftwitch, etc. Guess we will just have to see how this move pans out...

The Texans filled another need in free agency by signing quarterback Dan Orlovsky on Sunday. Orlovsky, 25, started seven games for the Detroit Lions last season. He will replace Sage Rosenfels, who was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, as the backup to Matt Schaub.

Orlovsky (6-5, 230) left Detroit because Lions management told him he would be a backup next season. He also was being pursued by the Denver Broncos, but was drawn to Houston by his comfort level with Texans coach Gary Kubiak and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan during his two-day visit.

"I feel it’s a good opportunity just to learn from those guys,” Orlovsky said at Reliant Stadium on Sunday. “I told them I’m really hungry to get coached, to get pushed and to see where I can get to. Coach Kubiak carries a reputation with quarterbacks.

He gets mocked a lot, but he's actually pretty good. If you watch highlights, he can use Calvin Johnson better than Schaub uses Andre. His ball placement/accuracy, arm strength, decision making, and good character make him a good prospect, but most are too ignorant to see past the play with the Vikings.

Which brings me to my next point: in the play where he ran out of the endzone, the offensive genius Childress left a tight end to block Jared Allen, the league's best pass rusher, on his own goal line. If Orlovsky hadn't run out, he most likely would've been sacked or thrown an intentional grounding.
