DT Darrell Reid Arrtested for Drugs

Indianapolis Colts' Darrell Reid, a 24-year-old Freehold native, was stopped by police on a downtown street early Saturday after they received an anonymous call reporting an intoxicated person. The officer who responded noticed a strong smell of marijuana and saw a small plastic bag in the open door of Reid's rental car that contained marijuana, police said.
Reid was arrested on suspicion of possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, obstruction and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, which are all misdemeanors. He was released Saturday after making bail and is scheduled to appear in municipal court Tuesday afternoon, according to Lt. Mark Wodell.
It will be interesting to see what the Colts' brass plans to do about this. They put and preach a premium on character all the time, but Reid is a pretty solid young backup DT for us at a pretty thin position for us right now. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. It's just a shame that some players in the NFL can't do "more productive" things with their spare time.

Colts seem to be trying to rival the Bengals in players in trouble w/the law this year...
Though 1 is donning the silver and black now... damnit.
I know there was another incident (at least one) involving a Colt... who else?

S Dexter Reid, but his contract was terminated maybe even before his incident.

Ah so its just this one who is retained...
My first thought was: What does Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy think of this? Now thats it only the one guy, its much less of a big deal.
Could this change Indy's draft plans? I'd love it if they took a DT in round 1.... our 1st pick in round 2 defenitely needs to be an O-liner.

Didn't Rhodes get in to it with the law?
And I think Indy is probably going with a LB in the first round, but that's just my preference & opinion.

He sure did, DUI. Thats who I was referring to before as the one donning silver and black.
Well I sure hope Indy goes the LB route... Oakland needs all the good luck we can get.

I'm sure Dungy is greatly displeased and troubled by Darrell's actions. I believe Dungy and Polian will request to sit down with Reid and discuss the situation thoroughly. I'm not sure this will impact the Colts' draft significantly. They were going to probably take a DT on Day 1, and I don't think this forces them into a position where they have to take a guy in Round 1 from a position that isn't that strong in this year's draft. A lot still pends on Corey Simon.

I agree. I think Simon is the key to our defensive success next season. Minus Bob Sanders, he is our major run stopper. It'd be a blessing to get him back to pair with Booger

I see absolutely no chance of Simon returning. There's something lurking in the shadows on that one, and I honestly don't think he'll ever play football again.
Now they've lost Reagor and possibly (probably?) Reid, they're going to be in more desperate need for another DT from somewhere.

Didn't Klecko and Schobel start replacing Darrell Reid quite a bit down the stretch? It seemed like Reid started missing a few games, and was replaced as the run blocking fullback/DT hybrid by Klecko near the end there.
I doubt Simon returns as well. Besides, Simon is a pass-rush specialist...Booger is the rush-stuffer specialist (supposedly).
As for arrested Colts (and former)....is Dede Dorsey (shortly before the Super Bowl for gun charges), Dexter Reid (drugs), Darrell Reid (drugs), and Dominic Rhodes (DUI).
Dorsey is probably gone. Rhodes is gone. Dexter is probably gone. I'm thinking Darrell might be gone too.

The two Reid brothers in trouble with drugs...
I seriously hope the brass talks to him and gets him into something of a rehab program because he is a valuable asset right now, and I don't think we can afford to lose him. If we do, we will have to spend at least two draft picks on D-Lineman, no doubt, I believe.

I don't think Dorsey's incident will cost him a roster spot. It was relatively mild compared to the Reids' incidents IMO. People speed all the time, and while the gun wasn't licensed, a lot of athletes carry around guns for protection. Could be wrong, but I guess we'll wait and see. Plus this blurb just came out from profootball weekly:
Keep a close eye on former Bengals reject DeDe Dorsey, who would appear to offer the most potential. Dorsey rushed 20 times for 149 yards in three preseason games as a rookie in Cincinnati, and word is the Colts have been more than a little intrigued by his run skills and willing attitude since bringing him aboard.
It must be that Bengal background in Dorsey, hopefully we can purge him.
