Colts Claim Antonio Perkins

Once a fourth round pick of the Cleveland Browns, DB Antonio Perkins was recently released and we claimed him. Why is this of note? I think this guy has a lot of potential...not on defense...but as a return man. This guy was a tremendous return specialist in college, but he never really got the chance to show anything with the Browns because of Dennis Northcutt. A real low risk..high reward pick-up for the Colts.

In 47 games with Oklahoma University, Perkins started 30 times and finished with 125 tackles, one sack, five stops for losses, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 21 pass deflections. He was selected by the Browns in the fourth round (103rd overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. The Browns waived Perkins on October 28, 2006 but subsequently re-signed him and assigned him to their practice squad. He set the NCAA record for most punt returns for touchdowns, with three, against UCLA in 2003. He is tied with Wes Welker for most punt return touchdowns in a career, in NCAA history, with 8.

TJ Rushing better beware.

Was Perkins on the Oklahoma squad that lost to LSU a couple years back? I remember him. This could be a very high reward pick.

No Problem, I just try to do the best I can to keep this board up-to-date.

Perkins is also a serious burner....running a 4.31 at the 2005 combine.

Rushing ran a 4.37 at his pro day from what I've read.

4.37, that is good. I wouldn't mind doing a rotation with Rushing and Perkins. Like every other game. Hopefully combined they could score like 4 tds and be great.
