I'm happy with Phil's outing. He'll have better command and be sharper in future outings, but his pitches are nasty and he's got good poise. You've got to hand it to the Big Hurt and Vernon Wells... they hit some good pitches.

I like it. This kid is the real deal. I can't wait for his next start. I do think Torre should have left Hughes in to try and get out of it with one more batter because he was at 90 pitches. -Jitpal

I'll trade you Pelfrey, Milledge and a half eaten snickers bar for him right now?

hell no :wavefinger:

and I must say very impressed w/ the 20 yr. old phenom ..very

but I must take jabs at Torre tonight

factor Jetes is out tonight an error at SS by Cairo has made this from a 2 - 0 game to a 4 - 0 game. Your telling me the best option at SS is Miguel Cairo ?

the top of the lineup due to Burnett owning Damon and Mienke why the hell is the top of the lineup weakened think this at best you want 1 out out of the top 3 to give a chance for the #4 cleanup to come up , why wasn't Cano placed at the #2 spot or the #1 spot then Mienky at #2 then Abreu and so on...

little things like sleeping at the bench and the Jays stealing 2nd between pitches , the bench is suppose to strategize yes or no. I'll say this the core is in trouble but Torre and the injured staff is costing us games. :nonono:

The only chance we have tonight is if Alex comes up w/ RISP atleast get on base so he can start a rally or something. Dangerous times w/ Boston coming to NY tomorrow :banghead:

4.1 7 4 4 1 5 0 8.31

Not a pretty line but watching him pitch. Wow. Looks like we have our number 3 for this year and at worst our number 2 for next year. -Jitpal

Well unless you move Arod there but Cairo then plays 3rd.

You're blaming Torre for Jeter being out?

Your number 3 is gonna have to throw more than 90 pitches/ 5 innings jitpal, or else you have another Jaret Wright

Obviously ass. He also pitched better than Wright, Karstens, Rasner, Moose, and Igawa. Meaning that he has been our 3rd best pitcher this year. You can toss him up with Pavano in results but Pavano is an injury waiting to happen when he isn't on the DL. So Hughes our number 3. He would have gone more than 90 if he wasn't on a pitch count. -Jitpal

OK even this Stinkee hater admits Phil Hughes is flat out nasty. I was VERY impressed with his curveball, reminded me somewhat of Dwight Gooden. (Not quite, Gooden's Lord Charles was much nastier) But still, impressive because you don't see youngsters anymore throwing an overhand curve with regularity.

where do more baseballs get hit 3rd base or short ? and between Cairo and Alex who's the better option there , he did it in Tampa too it cost us a 4 R inning tonight a 2 R inning. So if we lose by 2 R remember that the best option in Torre's eyes at SS was Cairo > Rodriguez but nah I'm only nitpickin' every other manager would do the same thing.

Here we go. 2 outs for Bruney. 3 for Henn. Probably 3 for Procter. Then another 3 for Vizcaino. Then if we are up 3 for Mariano and if we are down 3 for Farnsworth. Great. Let's blow out everyone in the pen when Torre should have put in Igawa for 3 innings. -Jitpal

He is supposed to be on a pitch count all year. I don't know if he ever threw over 80 last yr. Point being they are not going to jeapordize his career to save one season. Also he could have done a better job locating his pitchis tonight.

I say all this as Proctor throws a curve in the dirt and a run scores

Procter is done. He needs to be shut down for a month and see if he can get his stuff back. Otherwise let's try and move him for Lidge. -Jitpal
