Mc Clung has closer stuff. Let's see what he looks like in spring training.

He's closed before, from my understanding he didn't do to well.

He may have the stuff but he doesn't have the control.

Just like Turnblow, only ten times worse.

This is where baseballs dumb ass salary structure kills us. I don't want to have a contending team with a closer Melvin gets off waivers, or a guy (TBow) who had a complete meltdown. But we can't afford to give Cordero more than he's making now, and he will get more next year.

Why not make Shouse the closer next year? It wouldn't be pretty, but he gets the job done.

The funny thing is, I'm only half joking.

He's has already been much better since he has joined the crew. Who's to say he can't make another jump. Not saying he will, but it doesn't hurt to hope.

Career ERA- 6.27
ERA with Brewers- 6.23

.04 isn't much better.

The only thing I'm hoping for is to have a side arm closer throwing nasty 82 mph fastballs to close down games. Yes, I'm talking about Shousie. I can't imagine a more intimidating closer.

Now I'm totally on board with Seth McClung for 2008 closer.

Why not just make ray king the closer.

but i would be fine if turnbow was the closer next year. if we cant resign coco. which i think we can. he had a good season all star season but its once. at least in the recent past.

Right handed batters hit .328 against King. They hit .261 against Shouse. That's why.

This started as a joke, but the more I look at the numbers, the more I'm serious about Shouse being at least an 8th inning man. He has 10 more at bats against righties than lefties this year, so he's not just a lefty specialist anymore. He has allowed ZERO home runs this year and he's allowed less than a hit per inning. Not flashy but effective my friends.

I am thinking he will get around a 5.5 million a year

Try 9-11 million per year depending on supply/demand

Some haven't been paying attention to the way salaries are going way up the last few seasons. When you factor that in with contracts guys like Ryan/Wagner got,Cordero is going to get a very big contract from somebody.

Also, people shouldn't just focus so much on the yearly salary. What will also make Cordero go elsewhere is the amount of years he'll want and likely get from some team.Melvin might be willing to give Cordero say a 2yr/18 million dollar extension, but when another team offers a 4yr/38-40 million dollar contract,Cordero is gone from Milwaukee.

As for next year,i doubt Turnbow ends up closing for us.I see Melvin making a trade for either a Chad Cordero proven type of guy or maybe a setup man from another team that Melvin feels can close if given the chance.

Coco's agent will be in town today and tomorrow (not for contract talks). I'll be seeing him tomorrow afternoon sometime, I'll try to sound him out on if he thinks Coco will be back or not.

everything i've heard leads me to believe that coco would come back next year. not only does he love milwaukee, but he really seems to enjoy being on a competitive team with a chance at the playoffs. he's said in the past this is a team that could 'really do something special' and he thinks that is the most important part about being on a team. now he obviously could leave if offered 2, 3, even 4 more million dollars a year, but my guess is that he comes back here, even if its at a bit of a discount

Talked with Jay (Coco's agent) this afternoon. He said Coco would love to come back. Certainly an agent is going to keep all options open but he said Coco enjoys playing here and thinks we'll have a good team for the next few years and would love to be a part of it. Coco's brother also said the same thing. So we'll see.

What's Coco's brothers' name? I'm going to guess Carlos, am I right?
