Bowden: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K.
"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."

Don't look now, but Craig Hansen is starting to pitch well (albeit, in a small sample size). 2 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 K, 0 runs last night.

July: 13 IP, 14 hits, 15 K's, 4 walks, 2.08 ERA.
Since July 15th: 9 2/3 IP, 10 hits, 13 K's, 2 walks, 1 run. Still giving up too many hits, but a lot of them have been groundball hits which could mean he is getting a bit unlucky (or they are smoking groundballs).

With the sample size this small, it is probably nothing but still a little promising considering he couldn't put together 2 outings like this earlier in the year, let alone 13 innings. I still have hope he turns into a quality reliever with his groundball tendencies and K's (and stuff), but he really needs to cut down on the walks, if only to the degree he has lately. We'll see, I'm cautiously optimistic.

edit: from rotoworld...
Craig Hansen threw two scoreless innings Friday to pick up a relief win for Triple-A Pawtucket.

With his slider reportedly working as well as it has since he was draft, Hansen has pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings in his last three appearances. He has a 2.08 ERA and a 15/4 K/BB ratio in 13 innings for the month. The Red Sox won't be in any hurry to give him another chance, but his trade value is probably on the way back up.
Some of the posters over at SoxProspects, who have gone to the PawSox games, also mentioned his slider has been significantly better lately. Hopefully he can get it back to the level it was coming out of college, when scouts considered it at least plus, and some thought it was plus-plus.

Hagadone: 2 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 K's. 2 solid efforts since getting absolutely bombed to open up his pro career.

GCL Sox lost game 1 of their double header. Lin went 2-4, 2B, BB, SB. Now hitting a respectable .283 after a horrid start. Oscar/Moises Tejeda 1-4 with a double.

Hansen with another very good outing:
2 IP, 3 hits, 0 walks, 5 K's, 23 strikes on 29 pitches. One hit was a bunt single and another was a groundball single so despite the 3 hits in 2 IP, it sounds like he was pretty damn tough to hit.

Keep it up, Craig!

Josh Reddick is just wow.

11.5% K-rate. 8.5 % BB-rate. .244 IsoP.

I can't wait to see what kind of ridiculous numbers he puts up in Lancaster.

Mike Bowden is the youngest starting pitcher in the Eastern League and he's already figured the league out. Boston by age 22.

Yeah, he's figured the league out.....

69 innings, 78 hits, 6 HR, 28 BB, 58 K, 4.28 ERA

The guy is dominating the league.

I didn't say he was dominating it. I said he has figured it out. In other words, he is performing much better at this point in AA than when he was first called up.

God damn.

Oscar Tejeda went 4-5 with a 2B and a few RBI's for the GCL team; now hitting .311.

From now on I'm just going to say Josh Reddick and you're all going to drop your jaws and go, "Wow, he's unstoppable."

Josh Reddick.

Also, the Red Sox acquired Junior Spivey. Who is kinda decent.

Jed Lowrie: 2-4, 2 HR's, 4 RBI's. Now hitting .326 at Pawtucket

Ellsbury returned: 3-3, BB, SB.

The Jedi is a hoot. I loved him from the start because he's "from" Jamaica and now he's pitching like he's begging for a top 50 prospect in baseball nod.

Lowrie is hitting well for his short stint in Pawtucket. I doubt he can bump Lugo from his starting spot in ST but if he destroys Pawtucket for a month, gets the call to the show and performs well here, you never know.

I started following the Sox minor league in earnest around 2002-2003. Now it's starting to finally pay off because the guys I've been following for years are finally starting to pay dividends. mahalo

It is early, but Buchholz is DEALIN'. His changeup has been completely unhittable (got both 2 K's on it, about 5 swings and misses on it in the 1st) and his curve is pretty damn good, too. 1 inning, 2 K's, 0 walks, 1 bloop hit.

Jed Lowrie with yet another double. Stud.

2 IP, 4K now.

Jed Lowrie has a 1041 OPS in AAA. As a shortstop. Ah, Julio Lugo.

Dan Bard is terrible. 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, WP.

I hope Clay is called up to start one of the games on the August 17th double header vs. the Angels. He certainly deserves it and appears ready.

edit: oh yeah, his final line was 7 innings, 0 walks, 9 k's, 4 hits and a run.

Kris Johnson is dominating: 5 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 9 K's. The 1 run came on a HR that was to right field, where there is a 20 MPH wind blowing out to-- according to minorleaguebaseball.com's box score.

People ranked him ahead of Masterson before.

6 IP, 4 H, ER, BB, 10 K. Holla.

Bonds just hit 756. **** finally.
