Joe Andruzzi?

He's available

Continuing the remaking of their offensive line, the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday released veteran guard Joe Andurzzi, making the 10-year veteran an unrestricted free agent.

The release of Andruzzi, who started 27 games for the Browns over the past two seasons, means the team will enter 2007 without its two starting guards from a year ago. Seven-year veteran Cosey Coleman is an unrestricted free agent and still available, but Cleveland has made no effort to re-sign him.

Andruzzi, 31, was acquired by the Browns in 2005 as an unrestricted free agent, not only for his football skills but also for his locker room leadership. He had played five seasons in New England and was familiar with Browns' coach Romeo Crennel from the time they spent together with the Patriots.

He could be nice insurance if neither of Toledo/Liewinski look good at that RG spot (assuming Satele and Hadnot will play either LG/C or C/LG).

Mueller said they expect to fill out the roster with a couple more FAs, I'm assuming he's referring to guys who'll be cut with their jobs taken by rooks, ala Keyshawn, Andruzzi.

Andruzzi seems like he'd be a good pickup, I think.

Knees are shot..

Along with Cosey Coleman, was the weakest on our line.. A line that was one of the worst in the league.. Cannot run block to save his life..

Not sure how the 'Phins are at tackle ? But, our LT, (soon to be RT unless moved) Kevin Schaffer has asked for a trade..

He was our LT last year after coming over from ATL.. He was the LT there, but that was obviously for Vick, so he didn't protect the blind side there.. He was unable to do so here at LT.. Thus, the drafting of Joe Thomas. and the move of Schaffer to RT.. Which doesn't seem to be in his plans anytime soon..

I think our tackle situation is OK. We're using LJ Shelton at right tackle and Vernon Carey at left tackle. Our hole on the O-Line appears to be at right guard.

As for Andruzzi, if his knees really are gone, then we have no need.

Yeah, if his knees are shot, whatever, forget I even mentioned it.

Armando Salguero is doubtful that Carey can hack it at left tackle, basing his whole opinion on two games started their (his 1st two as a rookie) :-?

But while I don't share his pessimism with Carey, I do have my doubts about LJ Shelton.

yeah I think we're set at the interior of the line, we need tackles..

I have a feeling Satele or Mormino will be the center, Hadnot will move to guard and the guy who isn't the center will be a reserve C/G

Blah, enough with bringing veterans to patch something for a season that will luckily result in a playoff appearance. That was Saban's strategy and it just didn't work. Let's build for our true playoffs run in 2 or 3 years by developing our young players.

I think Mormino is considered more of a project. Still, yeah, I'm thinking that if Satele really excels at C, he gets the start, Hadnot goes to guard, Toledo (I hope) beats out Liewinski for RG, solidifying our interior.
