lil tidbits......things to look for during season...

Post#1 » by GameTime_3 » Wed Sep 5, 2007 5:34 am

here some tidbits for everyone...after talking to my close friend, who works for the dolphins(not janitor but works) he says things to look for.
he told me that the dolphins will try and put in acouple of trick plays every week and lil rinkles that the fans will enjoy. ronnie brown is off the special teams and will only be seen there if tedd ginn gets injuryd. (ted still does not feel like he is 100 perfect yet health wise, 85-90% is where he says he feels). the dolphins are quietly going into the season with beck as the 3rd string but dont be surprised if at any point he jumps to backup. also the rb's all made a huge inpression on cam cameron and alot can be said for his love for the running game. things to look for this year is sam satele and vernon carey working togather on the line. people around the dolphins feel that the only thing missing to making the o-line a strong point in later years is another RT that has passion(shelton won because there is no else) and a left guard. drew mirinono was never going to be a starter but he was expected to be a good backup for coming years. The dolphins will enter the year with brandon fields as the punter but at times he holds the ball to long and he may get acouple blockd this year. give the guy one year to correct his problem if he does we may have one of the best in the nfl if not then he'll be out of the nfl soon.(rocket leg but holds ball to long). booker will not see much play time this year. the dolphins are hopefull that hagen and ginn impress so next year they can get rid of booker and maybe trade chambers. also be patient this coming year because cam cameron will not try and ruin our future on this year just for the fans. other words if you see hagen droping balls dont expect a huge move or if o-line struggle to pull the rookie... hopefully this will be a great year and we will start to see the light at the end of tunnel.....all we need is hope and i think we are starting the right way...

Yeah the offensive line situation is pretty much how I viewed it too, set at LT, C, RG. Hopefully we can get long term answers at both LG and RT soon.

I like that Wilson kid on our practice squad as well as Elsera. Both could become contributors next year.

I am all for playing the young guys like Jimmy Johnson did when he first came in. Use this year to give them some experience and be better next year when a new crop of rookies can fill more holes.

Our WR corp has Ginn as the only deep threat (sorry Chambers, I just don't believe you are any threat at all). Hagan and M. Booker are procession receivers. IMO we need more speed at that position. Kerry Reed could find his way back on the roster if he can develop some more and Cam notices that Booker and Chambers are not going to net him much more than one of the rookies.

I am not sure Brown stays with the team after this season if he can't take Chatman off his back during the year.

I am pretty sure it would be an enormous cap hit to jettison Ronnie, he got a huge sign on bonus when he signed, like 24 million over 5 years, so he still has like 15 million which would accelerate into next year's cap. He's not terrible, he's just not worthy of being the #2 pick in a draft, like LT or Marshall Faulk or people of that caliber. In hindsight, the entire 2-10 is pretty mediocre. I guess Cedric Benson would be ok, or Braylon Edwards, but the Fins had the misfortune of having a top pick in a crappy draft year.

Miami Dolphins Ronnie Brown Running back Auburn
3 Cleveland Browns Braylon Edwards Wide receiver Michigan
4 Chicago Bears Cedric Benson Running back Texas
5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Carnell Williams Running back Auburn
6 Tennessee Titans Adam "Pacman" Jones Cornerback West Virginia
7 Minnesota Vikings (from Oakland) Troy Williamson Wide receiver South Carolina
8 Arizona Cardinals Antrel Rolle Cornerback Miami (FL)
9 Washington Redskins Carlos Rogers Cornerback Auburn
10 Detroit Lions Mike Williams

What a crappy class indeed. How about 1st pick Alex Smith?

Alex Smith will be good, and if he was there that's probably who Saban would have taken.

I liked Aaron Rodgers in that draft. I still think he's going to be a great QB once Favre hands it over to him.
Braylon Edwards is who I thought we should have taken and I still also think he's going to be special.
I think we are all getting too worked up over Ronnie Brown. He had a good season last year behind a crappy offensive line with worthless QB's. Would have ran for about 1400 if he hadn't gotten hurt.
I think he's going to blow up this year and become a pro bowl back. Once our O line improves Ronnie Brown will improve.

Return to Miami Dolphins
